🍻Cheers to another month of happy adoptions!

This August we saw one of our longest stay cats find someone who not only understood, but appreciated, her spiciness; a senior husky find a soft home full of blankets for his golden years; an adopter find a boisterous dog who matches her energy; and quite a few of our special needs kittens find people who are more than happy to provide the accommodations to give them healthy, happy lives; and many more!

Happy International Dog Day!📆🐶 We’ve got our official dog representative here, Goku! This 5-year-old is an expert at all things dog: playing tug-of-war, hiking, pool time followed by lots of sunbathing. Above all else, he is especially qualified at being your constant companion, endless love, and sweet, sweet smiles.

Goku would prefer to direct all his love to his people, so he would do best as your one-and-only canine companion. Due to his size (about 75 lbs), he’d do best in an adult household who can manage his care while respecting his boundaries.

Goku is one of our long stay dogs, meaning he has been with us for over a month. When you adopt one of our long stays, you rescue an animal who really needs it AND create space in the shelter for the next one.

IT’S A KNOCKOUT!! 💪🥊For the past 30 days we asked you to step into the ring to fight hunger with us and you pinned it down for the count!💥We asked for 5,000 lbs of pet food and you helped us hit… 6,904 lbs! 💥

We’ve been talking big game about our litters of littles, and it's starting to make our adult dogs feel… a little jealous. They asked us to remind you that anything puppies can do, they can do too!

Blizzard has just as much, if not more, energy as you would expect from a dog with a high octane name. Adopting him meant signing up for a life of fun with a side of chaos – how did his adopter know they were ready?

We’ve got a couple litters of puppies waiting to be adopted so this seems like the perfect time to remind you that when you sign up for Puppy Kindergarten through Asheville Humane, we will waive your puppy’s adoption fee (normally $175)!

Puppy Kindergarten is a $185, 6-week training class taught by our expert trainers for puppies 16 weeks or younger. Socialize your puppy, learn bite inhibition strategies and get the jump on potty training! Our next course starts September 12.

For dogs 16 weeks or older there’s the Canine Manners class! Also $185 and 6 weeks, this course focuses on basic manners like sit, stay, come, leave it and much more. Our next course starts September 3.

Do you know what your Summerween is missing? A familiar! 🐈‍⬛🪄

Yahtzee is a beautiful 2-year-old who came to us as a stray with kittens. Both her kittens have been adopted, so now it's her turn!

Being a shy black cat means she has a tendency to be overlooked, but with a little patience and love you’ll see how playful and sweet she can be.

She can be the Jiji to your Kiki, the Salem to your Sabrina, the Luna to your Sailor Moon. And thanks to Four Seasons Plumbing she doesn’t cost an arm and an eye of newt – Yahtzee comes spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and with a full bag of food. Visit her at 14 Forever Friend Lane!
