Ellen had a great day yesterday… a great-Dane-day. Great Dane puppy, Tucker, came in for a private lesson where he practiced coming when called along with several other important skills. It was clear that his teacher left quite the lasting impression on him 😘. Dolly tagged along and also stole some quality time with Miss Ellen.

Out of the ordinary request.
We have a shoot coming up where we
need another cat. Pete above will be on
the shoot but we still need another.
They will not be filmed together in the same scene.
If you have a social low key cat
who you think would enjoy being on a film set
which involves people and film equipment moving around, cameras and light flashes...
please let me know asap.
Thank You,
Ally

During their second week of our loose leash walking class good dogs Rascal, Arwin, and Alana and their humans took turns practicing the skills that they’ve learned so far.
•starting your walk in the heel position
•using leash pressure as a communication tool
•how to hold the leash most effectively
•the importance of body posture, facial expression and voice tone
•using focus commands “look” and “touch” while in motion
•automatic “off” of more and more tempting items on the ground
•”let’s go” vs. “heel”
•stopping with you when you stop

I was beyond impressed!

Caroline’s puppy graduation! Smokey, Rascal, Atlas, and Felix graduated from puppy school last night. They took turns running Caroline’s puppy course which included going through the tunnel and coming when being called. They played a game of musical fast sit, and saw who could do the most puppy push-ups. What fun! A big thank you to Samantha for photographing this special occasion.

Marlowe adding distance and duration to sit/stay until being called to “come.”

Buddy learning that he can remain seated and use his neck to turn his head to keep an eye on his handler while he walks a complete circle around him.

Hope and Benji showing that they can hold eye contact for several seconds without their handlers having to use food as a lure.

My Obedience 102 class graduated 🥲! Since we teach the dogs how to “foot” objects in this course, I decided to try something new for their final week of class. We borrowed the idea of letting the dogs attempt to take selfies of themselves from Frankie Joiris and her talented dog, Logic, who has taken up photography as a hobby. I’d say that they did pretty darn good for a first try. I snuck in a picture of Josie practicing taking pictures of herself at home to give you an idea of what is going on in the pictures that I posted from class. They have a remote selfie button that they are pushing with their paw to trigger the camera on the phone to snap a picture. I’m going to miss these dogs and their humans! Chipley Rusty Belle Birdie Bourbon ( Josie’s demo picture ) I love Bourbon’s graduation cap picture. He’s going through his teenage stage where he’s suspicious of certain things. His face is saying “mom, do they happen to make that T-shirt in my size?” 😆

The LOOSE LEASH
WALKING CLASS
is starting NEXT WEEK

L (https://square.link/u/JvKORcZb) OOSE LEASH Walking Class
With Corey Jones
A Few Spots Left
Starts Monday July 14
7:30 – 8:30 PM
6 wk Course Limit 5 teams
Teaching your dog to walk politely on leash is one of the most valuable skills you can invest in and we’ll make it fun and achievable for you both! The course is packed with fun focus exercises along with leash handling skills that build teamwork and trust.

Turn every walk into teamwork
Not tug-of-war. Whether your dog is new to you or LL is something you’ve put off for years and years…come to school and learn how to change your walk. In this upbeat, six-week course you’ll learn proven, fun-based techniques that teach your dog to focus on YOU so they will learn to walk politely, and sniff only when invited.
Why it’s worth it:
Safety & control-No more being yanked off your feet or dragged.
Engaged partner-Dogs have up to 300 million olfactory receptors to a human’s 5 million olfactory receptors. We’ll channel that super-nose into cooperation.
Real-world success – Step-by-step progression from quiet indoor reps to downtown walks.
What you’ll learn
Focus first –Focus on ME (your human) exercises. These training games build instant attention. The more you practice the more you’ll find your dog wants to focus on you instead of ignore you.
Sniff & No-Sniff cues – Teach your dog when exploring scents is okay—and when it’s time to walk on.
Leash handling that works – Changing how you hold and handle your leash will make a huge difference in teaching your dog to walk with you.
Weeks 1–4 (indoors): Master focus training game exercises-and leash skills without outdoor distractions.
Week 5 (parking lot): Practice around Corey’s “sniff zone” of tempting scents—(partially outside-but there will be chairs out there for breaks between exercises.)
Week 6 (Bicentennial Park): Field trip downtown to use every skill in real life (weather permitting).
With only five dog-human teams, you’ll get plenty of personal coaching and encouragement.

enjoyable walks?

Cane Corso sisters, Hope Ann and Rousey Lee, came in for a private lesson to work on their leash manners, focus skills, and foundation obedience commands. Such a nice family to work with!
Pictured:
