“It was the best of times; it was the worst of times…” This is the most fitting description of 2020. When midnight struck on December 31, 2019, I like everyone else had NO idea of what was in store. Disease. Isolation. Frustration. Injustice. Outrage. The worst of times… AND Self-sacrifice (putting self in harm’s way repeatedly and consistently for the sake of others), Creative love (dropping off meals, shopping for neighbors, standing outside the window of nursing homes with Happy Birthday signs) Generosity (buying gift cards to restaurants and hair salons not knowing if you would ever get to use them, mailing checks to pet sitters 😊) Kindness and Goodness (people of all hues seeking justice for others, friends and neighbors having difficult and deep conversations, people wanting to be better) The best of times…
May we all seek to be better than we are. May we all seek to love our neighbor truly and deeply.
1 Corinthians 13 1
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
