Walking in harmony, not just on a tether.

We use leashes so our companions can safely navigate our human world, but the best walks happen when the leash is loose and the connection is tight.

If your dog is finding the environment more rewarding than you, the leash becomes a source of frustration for both of you. Before you head back out to the sidewalk, try practicing in your "safe bubble" first.

By practicing in a safe, enclosed space without the leash, you remove the physical battle and focus on the partnership. When your dog chooses to walk with you because it’s rewarding, the "pulling" problem starts to solve itself.

Ready to stop the tug-of-war and start enjoying your strolls? DM me 'WALK' to learn more about my 1-on-1 training sessions! 🐾

One of the most commonly misunderstood concepts when it comes to training. I think we as humans are conditioned to learn large swathes of information at a time through traditional schooling. Sit in a classroom and listen to a lecture for a hour and a half.

Meanwhile studies in us have shown micro learning can increase retention of material and increase engagement. This is the same with our dogs and why I usually say a dog's brain is broken towards the end of the session or class.

Overtime, if we teach a dog consistently in too long of intervals, it can open the door for less engagement and less motivation. Keep it short, keep it smooth!

How long should your dog's training sessions actually be?

This is one of the most common questions I get and people are often surprised at my answer.

Not only did I get to practice Whiskey's public access during a class today but I also got to cross off something off my list today! I am now certified to give dogs and cats CPR and First Aid. Years after the desire came about, an opportunity dropped completely in my lap!
