It’s Clear the Shelters Month, and Springdale is spotlighting rescue dogs whose lives have been transformed through fostering, adoption, patience, and love. 💕
Three years ago, Peach was abandoned along a highway in Los Barriles, Mexico, shortly after having a litter of puppies. Rescued and placed with a caring foster family, she was painfully shy and timid, making it difficult to imagine her ever feeling comfortable in a home.
When Peach arrived in San Francisco with her new family, she was still terrified and had to be carried from the airport to the truck and then into her new home. She barely moved and refused to leave the house except for short trips into the backyard. She had only known Spanish and suddenly had a whole new language, environment, and way of life to navigate. Slowly and patiently, Peach began to blossom. 🍑🌼
She eventually became comfortable exploring beyond her home, although she has remained a sensitive and sometimes timid dog. Some days she is confident and outgoing; other days, she doesn’t even want to leave the car.
Then she and her family discovered Springdale. For three years, Peach has attended daycare twice a week, and it has been life-changing. She has made friends and discovered how much she loves water and pool parties. She has also done wonderfully during boarding stays. 🧡💙
At home, Peach is sweet, quiet, and incredibly well behaved. She loves her toys, waits patiently for her family when they leave, and greets them with pure joy when they return. Peach recently turned four and is a happy, deeply loved member of her family. She may always be a little shy and sensitive, but that is part of what makes her so special.
This Clear the Shelters Month, remember that every rescue dog has a story, and with the right family, patience, and support, that story can have a beautiful new beginning. Consider fostering or adopting and help clear your local shelters! 🐾
