Puppy’s confidence went to the MOON today 🚀

Hiding your dog from stressful, loud, chaotic environments is going to create a dog that can’t handle stress, loud noises, and chaos. Desensitizing as a puppy is the BEST thing you can do — but it doesn’t mean you can’t do it with an adult dog!! Don’t rush into anything and go at your dogs pace as much as you can, and help them work through the moments of panic with confidence. You can use play, food games, obedience… whatever your dog likes to do!

#1 BEST THING TO DO WITH YOUR ANXIOUS DOG OR PUPPY

There’s so much science-based evidence that proves that using thoughtful movement & adventure/play when exposing your dog to triggers or novel concepts can literally REWIRE THE BRAIN. If your dog is skiddish, nervous, reactive, or a puppy, you should be following desensitization sessions with PLAY or another activity your dog finds fun!

Then, incorporate REST — whether it’s a nap in the crate, just chilling in a quiet patio, or sleeping on the couch, solidify that memory in the brain with sleep.

Over just a few days, I guarantee you’ll notice a difference in your dogs confidence and anxiety!

With so many valuable lessons, it was hard for us to pick just one! 😍

We had a BLAST at the IACP 2026 conference. It’s a privilege to live in an era where there is infinite education about how to best apply our skills to help the dogs and the owners who love them—it’s an even BIGGER privilege to attend a 4 day conference where the best of the best are the teachers for the week!

Already excited for next years conference in WASHINGTON DC!!!! 🏠 WOOT WOOT!!!!!!

Preparation is the key to success— you don’t wanna get to the big day and realize that you have to run to the store and buy 1 million things. Prep ahead of time with the basics so you can spend the first few days with your new puppy with safety at the forefront.

I swear every time he learned something new, his confidence triples! Rocco picks up on things QUICK for a 9 week old!

In the past week, we’ve learned sit, down, his name, crate, and now look 💯 and he’s progressing SWIMMINGLY on potty training! Everyone tell Rocco he’s a good boy in the comments 🤩

I love going into a session with little to no expectations and just flowing into something fun like this, especially with dogs like Rocco that love to be challenged. It’s truly the highlight of this job ❤️‍🔥
