Shelter2Rescue Coalition is a non profit, all volunteer supported rescue. We focus primarily on rural Texas shelters We can't hear that too much!

Shelter2Rescue Coalition is an all-volunteer rescue organization dedicated to the safe-rehoming of shelter animals. We started as a rescue facilitation organization, helping rural shelters publicize their at-risk dogs and cats, thereby dramatically reducing the need to euthanize for space. Then, as we worked with more shelters, it became very apparent that if we could just buy the dogs or cats up

for euthanasia just a little more time, you could save even more lives. The 72-hour hold limit at most shelters just wasn't enough for most dogs/cats to get out. Therefore, we expanded and built partnerships with boarding facilities, transport organizations and other nationwide rescues in order to be able to provide a temporary safe haven for dogs out of time. We have our own Shelter2Rescue Coalition adoption program. Our main program with our rural shelters is NoKill Rural Texas,found on FB. Since June 2006, through facilitation and adoption, Shelter2Rescue Coalition volunteers have saved over 7000 dogs and cats, the number grows as we do. We do our best to match up potential adopters with just the right pet as we want to ensure a lifelong placement for the rescued animal. Our adoption process includes an initial application, with reference and vet checks, home visit when able. If the match is a good one, we then have an adoption contract that is executed. We have a commitment not only to our adopted dogs and cats, but also to the families that adopt them, and we are always available to help with the transition to a new home. We check in during the first few weeks to answer any questions or help with any issues - or to just give you someone to brag to about your new baby.

💙 THE POWER OF 3: SANCTUARY — Meet Dalton 💙
Dalton has called Shelter2Rescue home since May 2021.
He came to us as a shy six-month-old puppy, and we truly hoped that one day he would be ready for a traditional forever home. He was adopted—but less than a month later, Dalton came back. The outside world was simply too overwhelming for him.
And that’s okay. His journey just looks a little different. 💙
Today, Dalton is safe, loved and comfortable in our sanctuary program. His medical needs are cared for, he has dog friends, and he has a foster home where he can live the best life for him.
Not every rescue story ends with a traditional adoption. Sometimes keeping our promise means being there for the rest of their lives.

Some journeys lead to a forever home. Others lead to a forever family. 💙

Not every rescued animal follows the same path. Some need more time, more care, or simply a safe place to land.

Sanctuary gives them that place — safety, comfort and family for as long as they need it.

Their journey may look different, but their life still matters.

🌈🐾 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🐾🌈
Today we remember the ones who may no longer walk beside us, but who will always have a place in our hearts.
The dogs and cats who shared our homes, made us laugh, comforted us, and gave us a lifetime of memories. ❤️
Some were with us for many years. Some, never long enough. But every one of them mattered.

🐾 MEET TWEEDLE DUM 🐾
Tweedle Dum is currently living at Cleburne Animal Shelter — and he has been there since November 2025. 💔
So what does Shelter2Rescue do to help dogs like him?
Our Liz and Lou spend time at the shelter working with the dogs, getting to know them and taking great photos and videos that let their personalities shine.
📸 A good photo gets someone to stop scrolling.
🎥 A video lets a potential adopter actually see the dog.
🐾 Spending time with them helps us learn who they are so we can share that with you.
And sometimes, those photos and videos reach the right person — an adopter, a rescue, or that incredibly important foster family willing to say YES, I’ll give this dog a place to stay until a forever home is found.
Shelters like Cleburne are busy every single day with animal care, incoming animals, calls and everything else that comes with running a shelter.
Shelter2Rescue takes the extra time to help these animals be seen.
We wish we could simply pull every dog and cat that needs us, but shelters remain full and there are never enough foster homes.
For Tweedle Dum, today we can give him something incredibly important:
A chance to be seen. ❤️
