Texas Old English Sheepdog Rescue, Inc.

Texas Old English Sheepdog Rescue, Inc. TxOESR, Inc. is a group of volunteers who give their time and love to the rescued Sheepdogs who come into our program.

We receive Old English Sheepdogs from both owner surrenders and shelters. Additionally, we coordinate with other rescue organizations throughout the United States, it‘s territories, Canada, and Mexico. We offer education and support to all who care for and love this breed. Many of our rescue Sheepdogs are in good health, but for whatever reason, need to find new homes. Occasionally, we receive a

dog in need of medical attention who we nurse back to health prior to placement. While the fee for adoption usually offsets any expenses that we may encounter with our dogs, this is not always the case. We rely on membership dues, donations, grants, and fund raisers to provide funding for these expenses. After an evaluation period in a foster home, adopted Sheepdogs arrive at their new, forever adoptive home with the following: medical history, microchip, vaccinations, groomed, spayed/neutered, heartworm negative (or treatment provided), parasite free and housebroken. It is our goal to have happy, healthy sheepdogs leaving our program with a brighter future for tomorrow. The credibility of an organization comes from years of stability which is built on a solid foundation of integrity and the reputation of the people who serve it.

✨Meet Hank ✨
This 6-year-old Sheepadoodle is basically a giant teddy bear with a sense of humor.

🏈 He’ll happily play fetch or chase, but he’s also a pro at couch naps (sometimes mid-game… priorities).
👧 Loves kids so much that most nights you’ll find him curled up at the foot of their beds, standing guard like a shaggy knight.
🐕 Gets along with dogs big and small—or would be perfectly content as the only star of the show.
🚶‍♂️ Walks great on a leash, rocks his grooming appointments, and is a total angel in the crate (though honestly, he’s trustworthy left out too).
📍This gentle boy is with a foster in San Antonio, TX.
🚽 Potty trained
Warning: he will attempt to steal your sandwich if you leave it unattended. Counter-surfing is his guilty pleasure.”

Meet Dugan!
Available for adoption

🤎 8 years young • ~80lbs • male OES

🤎 With foster in El Paso, TX

🤎 LOVES walks but he does lunge at passing animals and pull so he will need help working on his leash manners

🤎 Will lovingly follow you around the house all day and sit right next to you (or even on you)!

🤎 The family that had him since he was a puppy surrendered him because he was marking the house and destroying items. They described leaving Dugan home alone during the day and did not give him daily exercise. Since he has been with his foster, who is home during the day and prioritizes his daily walks, he has not marked or destroyed anything.

🤎 Friendly with dogs at doggy care and with his foster’s dogs

🤎 Shows no interest in his foster’s cat

🤎 He would do best as an only dog in a home that will give him lots of love, attention and daily walks.

🤎 Current on shots, neutered, microchipped, and potty trained

🤎 Fun fact: He always sleeps with his tongue out.

Look who is adopted…..

Doxy (aka. Roxy / Boo)!!!

This sweet little girl was one of many dogs rescued by Palm Valley Animal Society from an abuse & hoarding situation in March 2024. TXOESR volunteered to take in two dogs, Zam & Boo, even though they were not 100% OES. Boo was the most emotionally damaged of the two.

Boo had a difficult time trusting humans and had a couple of unsuccessful foster attempts. Finally, Andrea and family became a last resort for helping Boo (now Roxy) through her trauma and fear of people.

The Askin’s pack became Roxy’s safe space. First the wonderful K9 support, followed by the human companions… She had months of care with Andrea – especially trying to work through fear of just day-to-day type exposures. Grooming was (and is) an event where Roxy still has anxiety. But, it is amazing how far she has come!

And TXOESR is happy to announce that the perfect family has now adopted Roxy. Andrew and Adele with their TXOESR OES alum, Dreamer, is the new family for Roxy. They have renamed her Doxy. They all recently flew from Dallas to their New England home in early August.

TXOESR wants to wish Doxy and her new family all the best!!

And thank you, Andrea and family, for given Roxy a safe space and giving her the love she needed to trust humans again.

‼️ 08/11/2025 - still need Foster or Adopter ‼️

❤️Need Foster Immediately!!❤️

Hopefully in the Austin, TX area!!

Kali is a 10-year-old spayed female OES needing a quiet home without any young children. Current on vaccines and she is microchipped. Need to get her a foster or adopter within two weeks. Follow either link below to foster or adopt.

Please consider this wonderful senior girl. TXOESR checked with her vet and groomer; and she is well behaved and loved by all.

This is the information from the owner’s perspective who has surrendered Kali to TXOESR:

This beautiful girl has been a cherished member of our family since she was 8 weeks old. Unfortunately, she has not adjusted well to having a new baby in the family. We are heartbroken and want to find her the perfect family with a loving, stable environment. She has been part of countless adventures from camping, cross-country road trips to being my work companion. (yes, she even came to work with me!).

While she may not be a constant cuddler (she tends to run a little warm), she has an incredible knack for knowing when you need her most. She becomes a devoted caretaker when you’re feeling under the weather. And get ready for a unique party trick-Kali loves to “sing” along to Happy Birthday, making every celebration even more memorable! She’s also a fantastic sport and happily (well, tolerantly) participates in family costumes, showcasing her goofy, fun-loving nature.

Kali has a few quirks that we want to be upfront with so she can find the best possible fit. She is a resource guarder (food and toys) and due to two incidents with our young child (at 9 months and then at 3 years) where she nipped him, we think she will do her best in a home with no young children. She has lived with her pup-sister for the past 7 years and although they generally get along, any conflict has been due to resource guarding. We have seen her play and do well with other dogs in our yard and dog parks and on off-leash trails. She’s also not the best on a leash and can unexpectedly lunge at trucks or trailers from the sidewalk. A tight leash is a must-I’ve had a few close calls.

On the bright side, we’ve seen her get along with other kids ages 8 and older. She is smart and an eager learner. She knows her basic commands like sit, down, shake, stay, off, and bed and her emergency recall is reliable. She is in good health (just got some la work from the vet), loves to play in the backyard and being in water, and is great at being groomed. The ideal home will have a confident and consistent leader who will not give in to her sweet blue-eyed smile.

If you can help - please contact TXOESR! 🙏
Thanks!

An update for our Texas OES Rescue followers on the Alpine, TX OES rescues – Bates, Hoss and Molly.

Mr. Bates passed away on Monday July 7, 2025. 💔

Bates was a 10-year-old male OES and sire to Hoss and Molly – both 7-years-old. His closest friend during Bates’ life was Eddie. Always in the field together farming or hunting and always by each other’s side until Ed passed 3 years ago. Eddie’s wife was incapacitated and had health issues and could not care for the three dogs and their conditions deteriorated. The three Old English Sheepdogs were surrendered to TXOESR in January 2025.

TXOESR took Bates, Hoss and Molly for grooming and veterinary care. It was discovered Bates had issues with cancer and a long-time neurological issue which showed up in his gait.

Fortunately, a wonderful grooming & boarding facility was found in Fort Davis, TX – Nut Farm Kennels. The kennel owners worked with TXOESR to take care of all three OES rescues.

Denise and her husband (co-owners) have done wonderful things for the dogs. Immediately, Bates’ friendly personality grew on the husband – and they were often seen together while doing kennel chores. Bates was such a pleasant and likeable guy – he was given opportunities for unbridled kennel access.

Denise (who is also a vet tech) and TXOESR was / is always in touch and watching to make sure Bates would not suffer through the medical conditions he had. Thank you for that Denise.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Bates… And now, go look for Eddie!

And TXOESR wants to thank all the wonderful donors and supporters who have done so much over the last 6 months to help support the care for all three OES rescues.

Your generosity is very much appreciated along with the well wishes, thoughts and prayers.

Hoss and Molly are still available for foster and adoption!

TXOESR Looking for Foster / Adopter in Houston / Katy, TX area…

This weekend, Jazz a 5-year-old unaltered female OES was surrendered to TXOESR. The owner is going through a rough divorce and with her 3 kids is looking for a rental property to live. With all the life and financial changes going on, the owner is no longer able to give Jazz the wonderful life she deserves.

She is house trained, leash trained (4 of 5), crate or kenneled or also left loose in home. Ok with some commands, she introduces herself well to people and other dogs. Known to herd – so young children not recommended. Jazz will receive a veterinary check, shots, microchip and spayed at TXOESR expense.

Usually, Jazz is well groomed but due to her owner housing/financial situation she hasn’t been able to keep it up. Jazz is very patient and used to being groomed. Stands/sits and allows her paws/face to be groomed with no issues. She is very used to weekly brush out appointments and baths at a groomer.

The pictures so Jazz with a full coat – but she was recently shaved.

Humane Society for Hamilton County (Indiana)...

Hey All, this bonded pair is still at the shelter in Fishers, IN. Can anyone help?

We received this notification today… TXOESR is reaching out for the Humane Society for Hamilton County. They have received two 9-year-old OES surrenders this past week (one male and one female, both altered and up to date on vaccines) because their owner could no longer care for them.

They both seem to have great temperaments so far. and we hate to see them here in the shelter. Hopefully spreading the word to help give them the second chance they deserve if you would be able to take them.

Hamilton County Humane Society is an open-admission, no-kill shelter operating well over capacity, they are doing everything they can but are extremely overwhelmed with dogs and do not want to make difficult decisions. They are urgently seeking rescue partners who can help them give these pups the best chance at successful placements and open up more kennels for the constant influx of animals.

Please contact them if you’re interested in these precious dogs.
