Texas Old English Sheepdog Rescue, Inc.

Texas Old English Sheepdog Rescue, Inc. TxOESR, Inc. is a group of volunteers who give their time and love to the rescued Sheepdogs who come into our program.

We receive Old English Sheepdogs from both owner surrenders and shelters. Additionally, we coordinate with other rescue organizations throughout the United States, it‘s territories, Canada, and Mexico. We offer education and support to all who care for and love this breed. Many of our rescue Sheepdogs are in good health, but for whatever reason, need to find new homes. Occasionally, we receive a

dog in need of medical attention who we nurse back to health prior to placement. While the fee for adoption usually offsets any expenses that we may encounter with our dogs, this is not always the case. We rely on membership dues, donations, grants, and fund raisers to provide funding for these expenses. After an evaluation period in a foster home, adopted Sheepdogs arrive at their new, forever adoptive home with the following: medical history, microchip, vaccinations, groomed, spayed/neutered, heartworm negative (or treatment provided), parasite free and housebroken. It is our goal to have happy, healthy sheepdogs leaving our program with a brighter future for tomorrow. The credibility of an organization comes from years of stability which is built on a solid foundation of integrity and the reputation of the people who serve it.

Meet Dudley……

Dudley was found as a stray in Amarillo, Texas dodging cars on a freeway. Fortunately, with the support of a local angel named Marla, he was pulled from the shelter and temporarily fostered until he could be transported to his foster home in Dallas.

Dudley had a hard life with obvious signs of neglect. Matted, skin and bones, stomach issues, skins issues including big callouses on his elbows and hip bones. His tail appears to be broken in 2 places. We have been taking our time to get him healthy enough to make him available for adoption. He weighed only about 64 pounds when he joined our rescue. He is now up to about 75 pounds! Initially he had re-occurring stomach issues, which are now resolved. He is being treated for skin issue on the edges of his ears. We also discovered he has hypothyroidism so he is on medication for that. He also has some arthritis in his hips that we have been waiting to address until his other issues are addressed.

Regardless of his medical issues, Dudley is a charmer. He is a happy boy who loves humans and he wants to be your shadow. His broken tail does not bother him because he is constantly wagging it and whacking his fostering siblings in the face. He gives kisses freely. He has not met a stuffed toy he did not like. Not only does he like to carry them around in his mouth, his favorite game is tug. Dudley likes to growl when he plays tug. He thinks it makes him sound tough but don’t be fooled. Dudley is a lover, not a fighter. He is in a foster home with both a male and female dog and he gets along great with both.

Dudley is about 7 years old. He is house trained and crate trained. He is up-to-date on all vaccines, neutered and micro-chipped. He loves to go for rides in the car and walks well on a leash. Dudley will do fine in a home with or without siblings. Because of his size and his love for stuffed toys, he would probably do better in a home with older children.

If you would like to hear more about Dudley or feel like your home is the perfect forever home for Dudley please direct message us and fill out an adoption application.

Look who’s adopted… Malcolm‼️

Malcolm has finally found his forever family in sunny Arizona‼️

In late April, this little guy came through TXOESR after he was rescued by passers-by and local FD rescue squad while he was struggling in a lake in Sun City, AZ. Fortunately, TXOESR had a wonderful foster located in Tempe (Laurel Todd) who was able to give him a safe environment and all the care he needed. ❤️

Soon after his vet care, neuter, microchip and groom, a wonderful family in Winkleman, AZ expressed interest in adopting Malcolm.

Kimbra, Keith and their 9-year-old OES (Harley Quinn) set up a meet-and-greet with Malcolm which ultimately went fantastic! Therefore, the adoption was a GO!

Congratulations to Malcolm, Harley Quinn, Kimbra and Keith!

Thank you Laurel for fostering this little guy until he found his perfect family!

Best Wishes from TXOESR!!

North Texas "Gives to Animals" Starts Today‼️

Texas OES Rescue is excited to be a participant in the 2026 - North Texas Gives to Animals, presented by Communities Foundation of Texas.

Over the past year, wonderful members and donors generously donated to TXOESR. These donations helped support our mission of rescuing Old English Sheepdogs - whether they be a stray, surrendered, abandoned or abused here in Texas and throughout the southwest USA.

A few of the more than 40 rescues which benefitted from TXOESR care in 2025 / 2026 include:
• Duke - the stray from Albuquerque, NM. Heavily matted and fearful of people, he received veterinary care and three-week board-and-train care as we work to help him find his forever home.
• Dot and Bette - rescues from a backyard breeder / hoarding scenario. Dot was the pup who nearly lost her life from a botched spay operation requiring emergency care. Bette is happily adopted and now with her forever family.
• Dudley - the Amarillo rescue who is still dealing with an undiagnosed condition causing vasculitis. He is still being cared for by a TXOESR foster and enjoying his foster family and friends.
• Tux - a surrendered OES rescue with resource guarding issues. Attended a three-week board-and-train course while still waiting for his forever family.
• Hoss and Molly boarding from February 2025 thru February 2026 - now adopted with new families.
• And to top everything, good veterinary care has increased in cost considerably. Even as TXOESR tries to leverage low-cost centers, appointments are difficult to get and usually require 2-3 months to schedule in advance.

And your gifts have helped make all this possible!

Please consider donating to help TXOESR reach our goal of $5,000 during this year’s event. And with successful early donations, the matching funds can certainly help us achieve that goal and more!
Giving is easy: beginning today - Thursday, May 14th through May 31st, you can make a gift online at the link below:

https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/organization/texas-old-english-sheepdog-rescue-inc

Thanks to help from local sponsors and generous givers like you, Communities Foundation of Texas covers all transaction and technology fees, ensuring that 100% of online donations directly support local nonprofits.

Remember - starting today - May 14th.

To kick off the event on Thursday, May 14, the first $100,000 in donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by our presenting partner The Gigi Gartner Charitable Foundation Fund, along with sponsors Haroon Alvi and Nancy Cozzie Fund and Communities Foundation of Texas. Available for online gifts only, the first $100 per donor per organization will be matched.

Thanks for your support of Texas OES Rescue, Inc.!

Louie needs a foster family!!

Earlier this week, Louie was surrendered to Texas OES Rescue in Houston, TX by an elderly owner who is moving for health care reasons. Unfortunately, she cannot take him with her. So, she asked TXOESR to find him a wonderful family who can give him the life Louie deserves.

Louie is a neutered 5-year-old male OES. He is in good health and weighs 65 lbs. He is housebroken, crate trained, good on leash and good with general commands. He is good with kids and dogs. Loves car rides. He loves walks and he can walk without leash with reminders of “come good boy”. He likes to make people happy. He is very smart but at times needs redirection. He is a laid-back, sweet loving guy who can be alone but enjoys his people very much!

TXOESR will make sure all shots are up to date, he is groomed and microchipped. He has been on heartworm medication, but TXOESR will confirm heartworm negative.

So, TXOESR is looking for a foster in the Houston area. If you are interested, please follow the link below to submit a foster application:

Tux Needs Foster or Adopter - Immediately!! Hopefully, in the greater Dallas / Fort Worth area to take advantage of Proven K9 Training.

Tuxedo (“Tux”) is an 18-month-old, neutered, 82lb boy who was being fostered in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. He is incredibly smart, cute, friendly, sweet, and snuggly, but he is an owner surrender because he has had 3 incidences of resource guarding behavior.

TXOESR enrolled Tux in a 3-week board and train course at Proven K9 Training in Ponder, TX. He just completed his training on April 11th. The staff at Proven K9 loved him. They understood the previous situations Tux experienced and made sure to push him in those areas and more. He came through his training with flying colors. Unfortunately, his foster did not follow through and give Tux the structure needed and continued reinforcing his training. Now TXOESR is looking for a foster or adopter who will continue to work with this young guy and provide him the love and structure he needs to build his confidence.

Tux is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, housebroken, crate trained, good on leash and good with basic obedience commands.

And as an extremely nice side benefit, Tux has available to him lifetime support and boarding availability with Proven K9 in Ponder or Amarillo
So, if you are ready to give Tux an opportunity to join your family, follow the link below to submit a Foster Application or an Adoption Application on his behalf.

💕Look who is adopted… Molly!!💕

It has been over a year since Molly (and Hoss) had joined TXOESR as OES rescues. They were in rough shape along with their sire, Bates, when they were surrendered in January 2025. With the help of donations from TXOESR members and donors, we were able to give them the care they needed. Unfortunately, with them being in a remote part of Texas, they have been boarded and cared for in a kennel in Fort Davis, TX. They received excellent care and bonded with the kennel owners. But TXOESR was not having any luck in finding forever families and homes.

Until Doug and Linda from The Woodlands, TX decided to give Molly a chance to join their family. They are previous adopters from TXOESR and gave a wonderful home to Chloe, their previous OES. But she passed 10 years ago, and they were missing that special OES love only these dogs can bring.

Doug was able to help with the transport of Molly. And with that time together, the bonding began. Molly has been with the couple a little over 3 weeks, and they have come to love her very much. Molly has settled in quickly and has bonded with both – becoming their shadow. It’s wonderful to hear when one of these sweet pups finds that forever home.

So, Best Wishes to Molly, Linda and Doug! May you have many fun and furry adventures together!!

And yes, Hoss was adopted a couple of weeks prior to Cindy and Jerry located in Sunrise Beach, TX. And they are all doing famously as well.

Meet Malcolm‼️
Texas OES Rescue, Inc’s newest OES rescue.

On April 14th, Malcolm was saved by local Sun City, AZ residents as he was struggling to keep afloat after falling into a lake. After a cursory veterinary checkup and with no microchip, collar nor tags, the rescuer contacted TXOESR to help with his further rescue.

Luckily, TXOESR had a wonderful foster in our foster network located in Tempe, AZ. The foster is now taking care of Malcolm and his needs. He is scheduled for a full veterinary check-up with full vaccines, neuter, microchip, heartworm test, followed by a trip to our foster’s groomer!

So far what TXOESR knows about Malcolm is this: he is a wonderful, friendly OES with a pleasant personality as described by those who have been engaged with him. The vet who first saw him indicated he looked to be in great shape and healthy. More information will be known after his vet visit planned in the coming week.

TXOESR is looking for a long-term foster or adopter for Malcolm.

Ideally the foster would be in the Pheonix area and be willing to help with transport from the current foster’s location in Tempe, AZ. Potential adopters will need to be able to pick up Malcolm in the foster areas around Phoenix.

TXOESR is hoping Malcolm is lucky enough to find his foster and adopter soon to start the next adventure in his life.
