🐾 Let’s Talk About Dogs in Heat 🐾
If you have an unspayed female dog, understanding her heat cycle is so important—for her health, behavior, and even grooming appointments!
✨ Signs your dog may be in heat:
• Swollen v***a
• Bloody or pink discharge
• Excessive licking of the area
• Increased urination/marking
• Mood changes (clingy, anxious, restless, or even moody)
• Flirting behavior—raising the tail, seeking male dogs, or acting extra interested in attention
⏰ How long does it last?
A heat cycle typically lasts around 2–4 weeks, though every dog is a little different. The most fertile stage usually happens about 7–10 days after bleeding starts.
🐶 Behavior changes while in heat:
Your sweet girl may suddenly act totally different! Some dogs become extra affectionate and clingy, while others may become irritable, nervous, distracted, or harder to manage. They can be more sensitive during grooming and may not tolerate the process as well as usual.
✂️ Dogs in Heat & Grooming ✂️
If your female dog is in heat, please refrain from bringing her in for grooming during this time.
Why?
Because it throws off the entire vibe of the shop. Other dogs can react, your pup may be more difficult to groom, and the bleeding can get on themselves, the salon, equipment, and grooming tools.
Most importantly—PLEASE let me know AHEAD of time if your dog is in heat so we can reschedule your appointment. PLEASE don't wait till the day of grooming and I find out while they are in the bath, extra fees will be occurred if this happens.
If you fail to let me know, I am NOT responsible if your female gets hooked by a male dog. Yes… this has happened before 😅
Help us keep the salon safe, clean, and stress-free for everyone 🐾💕
