FREE RABIES VACCINES FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST

In our attempt to protect and raise awareness, for the ENTIRE MONTH OF AUGUST, we will provide FREE RABIES VACCINES (if due) during all veterinary or technician appointments.* This is a savings of $35 for each rabies vaccine given!

Rabies is a fatal disease transmitted through the saliva of infected animals. It affects the nervous system and can be transmitted to humans and other animals.

Michigan law mandates that all dogs and ferrets be vaccinated against rabies.

While not legally required in cats, we ask that all our feline patients also be vaccinated as there are more reports of rabies in cats than in dogs each year. Even if your cat lives indoors, they can be exposed to bats or rodents inside the home.

When Pebbles—a two-foot-long lizard who resides at the nonprofit Creature Conservancy—was in need of help, associate professor of medicinal chemistry Tim Cernak and his team were able to provide treatment using "conservation chemistry."

TINY TICKS * BIG THREAT

We have recently had an uptick (sorry for the pun) in tick-transmitted diseases in many of our dog patients here at Animal Kingdom. Just because it's winter, don't be fooled into thinking that all the ticks are gone.

The tick-borne diseases that we see most frequently include Ehrlichia, Lyme, and Anaplasmosis. The American Veterinary Medical Association suggests that Tick prevention is considered more important and effective than the Lyme vaccine. Tick prevention products can protect your dog from all types of tick-borne diseases.

We recommend the use of Nexgard Plus. This chewable protects dogs against Ticks, Fleas, Heartworm, and most Intestinal Parasites.

Take home message: Ticks are Alive Through the Winter & Prevention is Key.
