🐾 Looking for Working Barn Cat Homes! 🐾

Not every cat is meant to be a house cat, and that’s okay.

We currently have several healthy, spayed/neutered barn cats looking for safe places to call home. While they aren’t suited for life as indoor pets, they can thrive in the right outdoor environment.

We’re looking for homes that can provide:
🏡 A safe barn, workshop, garage, or other secure shelter
💧 Fresh food and clean water every day
❤️ A lifelong commitment to their care and well-being

Giving a barn cat a home is still adopting a pet. While these cats may prefer to keep their distance from people, they still rely on their caregivers for food, shelter, and protection. We will provide guidance to help set both you and the cats up for success! The most important step is giving them an acclimation period in a secure area (such as a stall, tack room, or enclosed space in your barn) before allowing them to roam. During this time, they’ll have access to food, fresh water, and shelter while they learn that this is their new home.

Please send us a message or stop by the shelter to learn more about our available barn cats and whether they’re a good fit for your property. Every safe placement gives these special cats the chance to live the life they’re meant for. 🐈🤍

🍼 URGENT: Kitten Fosters Needed 🍼

We have a litter of 6 tiny bottle babies that urgently need foster homes. Unfortunately, we currently do not have enough foster families available to care for them.

Bottle-fed require feeding every few hours, warmth, and lots of love. We know this isn’t a commitment everyone can make, but for those who can, you’re truly giving these kittens a chance at life.

The shelter will provide all required supplies, support and help guide you through the process.

What an incredible weekend! 🌊🎸🎤🐾

We had an absolute blast connecting with our community, meeting so many wonderful people, and celebrating a cause that means so much to us.

A heartfelt thank you to the Crooked Lake Sandbar Music Festival for once again hosting this incredible community event and selecting the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County as the beneficiary of the funds raised. We are truly honored by your generosity and support. While we won’t know the final amount raised until next month’s check presentation, we already know the impact will be significant for the animals in our care.

Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and everyone who attended, donated, bought merchandise, or simply cheered us on throughout the weekend.
