Breaking news: EU Pet Passports *NO LONGER VALID* unless primary residence is in the EU!
If you hold an EU Pet Passport for your pet, but your primary residence is not in the EU, you are now required to have a USDA-endorsed International Health Certificate to enter the EU, as of April 2026.
Be sure to allow enough time for your EU travel plan and documents!

An informed traveler is a happy traveler! -- This week one of our travelers told us their friend was stopped by border agents re-entering Alaska and forced to turn back to microchip their three *CATS* 😲 -- Please note: Neither Canada nor US requires *CATS* to be microchipped to enter.
We've attached links below, which we recommend you bookmark in case of any dispute with a border agent driving through Canada. Of course, border agents are individual people, too, and can be sadly ignorant of the actual legal requirements.
Stay informed!

Are you driving through Canada with dogs, either *TO* or *FROM* Alaska? Don't forget the US-CDC requirements for dog re-entry into the US, including a readable microchip (and age-requirement, minimum 6months), as of August 2024. -- Oh, and don't forget to fill out your online CDC Dog Import Form before you cross the border!
(Note: These re-entry requirements also apply to Mexico -- or really any time your dog leaves US soil! [Cats are currently exempt, lucky cats!!])

Did you know: Rabies vaccination rules in the US are much more lax than in other countries? If you are planning *INTERNATIONAL* travel, be sure your pet/s' Rabies are up to date according to *THAT* country's requirements.
For instance, the EU does not permit the lapse of Rabies protection by even ONE day -- so if the booster was due February 7 and it wasn't given until Feb 8 or 9 -- it's expired, and the new vaccine is only good for ONE year (instead of three)!
Silly? Maybe, but it's their country and their rules, so be aware!
