Pet owners in Missouri are being more cautious after a vet issued warnings about a deadly disease uptick.

William will start his treatments tomorrow - so we will likely be slow to respond to messages, phone calls, etc.

Our shelter will not be open to the public during the week - we have 3 new employees (that are doing a great job) - but not ready for meet and greets throughout the week.

PLEASE...If you have older family members or friends with pets...check on them..these 2 pups belonged to a older man...they were loved...But sometimes LOVE is not enough...there is no excuse for the condition they were in.

The mats and tangles were extremely painful...they had trouble walking, their nails had.grown into the pads of their paws, they could not p**p without it getting stuck in the mats...the mats were pulling on and rotting the skin underneath.

We will work on getting them healthy again...treat the skin infections that were underneath the filth, and getting them vetted.

If you would like to sponsor one of these sweet boys, let us know. Sponsorship help us cover the costs of extensive care. Both will need quite a bit of vetting including dental care and treatment of eye infections and skin issues, neuter and shots.

It will be weeks before they are ready for adoption.

Would any groomers be willing to donate their services for 2 extremely matted Shih-tzu mix boys? Would prefer if someone would be willing to groom them at our building.

Both are very sweet..very matted and pretty stinky

We have trimmed some of the bigger mats..but they really need someone that knows what they are doing.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED...

so many people said they were coming..only 1 showed up. Thank you Adams County for showing up
We don't have the space to store what is left..Will likely have to put it in the dumpster .what a waste.

Dozens of folks responded...keep in mind that 1-1/2 pallets really is not that much!! Please don't ask us to hold some back for you...itnis 1st come first serve...we will do our best to spread it out to as many rescues as we can. Might be a good idea to keep an eye on this post on Saturday..we will try to post updates as it gets picked up.

Many of you have followed William's story (our Director) and know that he was very ill since December of 2022 - he underwent a liver transplant in August 2023 after spending over 260 days hospitalized and was doing so well.

3 days (August 5, 2024) after his one-year anniversary of his liver transplant, William was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma - a cancer that sometimes effects transplant recipients.

We ask you to be patient with us as our team copes with this news and as William starts radiation and chemotherapy treatment. We also ask for your prayers as he faces this new challenge. He is stubborn and strong, and we know he will fight with all he has!

This rescue is extremely important to William - and it has been his life's focus since we took over this rescue.

We will need your help - William will not be able to help at the rescue for the foreseeable future and we rely on him to take care of the pups on a daily basis. We have had to hire 3 part time kennel techs to help - and now have to meet payroll (William's time was as a volunteer). We will continue to operate - save pups and find fur-ever homes for our wonderful fur-kiddos.

Please help us keep our doors open - we have so many dogs relying on us and so many who rely on our Outreach program.

We ask that if you have adopted a dog from us - or if you follow us - or if you can - please donate to help us. We WILL NOT fail - this rescue is important, not only to William, but to so many.

We have over 17K followers - if even half of them could donate $5 or $10...it would ensure that we continue to help so many pups.

When it is raining cats an dogs and there is a broken water main up the street...you improvise!!!

We are so excited that our new drainage system is working!!! no flood in the yard!!! Even the back yard is not flooded!!! wet...but not flooded!!!!

Drainage went in today!! No more flooded yard!!! Next is the turf then the back yard canopy!!

Almost there...when that is done..we will start a few projects inside!!!

Loving the renovations sooo much!! New covered runs for the pups to enjoy!!

Translucent panels that block the UV but let the light in!! The pups are gonna love it!!

Drainage is going in to keep the yard from flooding.

Lots of work to go but so thankful for the grant that made this all possible!!

Kinda like an Old Fashioned Barn Raising!!
