Next to Peaceful in the dictionary, there should be a picture of Humphrey. Team player, smart, and willing are all words we would use to describe him. Humphrey is a coming 4 year old gelding that’s a trained reiner. He’s been successfully shown his 3 year old at several events, including the 100X futurity in the Non Pro as well as, the Open. He’s a beautiful mover, will turn around as hard and fast as you ask, and will run and MONSTER STOP every time you send him. I’m not going to sit here and pretend I’m Matt Mills, so trust me when I say this, “if one will lead change for me, they’ll lead change for ANYONE!” 😂
We bought Humphrey with intentions on making him a calf horse for our oldest boy to eventually rope on….to make a long story shorter, he’s stood here for 4 months and been rode maybe 8 times. (I don’t know who we thought we were kidding when we thought we could squeeze TRAINING a calf horse into the 7 million other things we have to get done in our day).
Fact of the matter is, he’s too nice to stand here and not be getting shown, trained in a different discipline, and/or enjoyed.
Make NO mistake, this horse will 1000% make a rope horse if that’s your jam. He’s got the size, mind, athleticism, and the stop to do it. These videos are his second time to ever have a rope swung on him. Every time you stop him and coil up your rope, he c***s his leg and licks his lips. Naturally went right to a cow and has great timing. He loves it.
Humphrey is 100% sound in every way.
Mind, Body, and Soul.
No vices whatsoever. No hump, no buck, no quirks, NOTHING. If you can’t get along with him, you need to sell your saddle. We’ve left him off on full feed alfalfa for weeks at a time. He saddles up gentle and rides right off every time. He’s so uncomplicated, you won’t even stress over cleaning his stall. He does his business in one spot.
Whether you want to go make him a rope horse, take him back to the reining, or go enjoy a weekend show in a versatility class, Humphrey will fit the bill.
First come, first serve. No holds without a non refundable deposit. He will not last long. Right now we’ve got some ol veterans that are making the “training/roping” schedule real simple…get on, rope, put them up. I’m 100% confident I’m going to regret letting this one go in about 3 years when we are forced to have to train one with half the talent and a tenth of the brain this one has.
