High Point Griffons

High Point Griffons Hello everyone! We are the Pluim family! We live on an acreage in NW Iowa with our Griffons, Echo and Mazie. Our Griffs are our family pets first and foremost.

We have puppies once a year (if that) and strive to be exceptional with raising them.

We haven't given an update on Mazie lately. But consider it no news, good news. She's pretty much healed up...just waiting for her stitches to get taken out (probably Thursday). She's acting just fine, full range of motion, etc. If it wasn't for her clunky cone, you would never know she was even injured. Echo is doing great too and Caleb and I feel this will be her best duck hunting season yet. She seems much more seasoned, fine tuned, refined... however you want to word it. We're excited for the early teal season coming soon, and we'll keep you updated on how Echo does with that.

So happy 😁

Because our lives are never dull...our vacation wouldn't be "normal" without something happening...this time, unfortunately, it was to Mazie. She was riding in the back of Caleb's truck in the campground and for some reason (she has never done this in the past) but decided to jump out of the bed of the truck while we were driving slowly. Unfortunately she got a really good gash on her back leg and some road rash under her thigh/belly. We felt absolutely TERRIBLE. Seeing as it's the weekend and we live in NW Iowa (and we're camping this weekend mind you) we called local vets and emergency vets but everything was full, closed, or a LONG drive away. THANKFULLY I know our local vets personally (perks of a small town) and messaged her directly asking if there was ANY way she could do an emergency stitching/exam on Mazie today...and she could!! Shout out to Family Animal Care in Orange City!! After an hour and a half of being put under, stitched up, and some IV pain meds and antibiotics, she's recovering comfortably with a not so comfortable cone... for two weeks...no swimming for her either during these weeks, which she will greatly despise. But all in all we are SO glad it wasn't worse and that we got her good care right away! Now we're back at the cabin again for a couple more hopefully relaxing evenings with the dogs. Again, we feel terrible and we know it probably wasn't the best to have her in the back of the truck...but accidents happen, and we're human. We're just glad she's comfortable and healing...and we did learn a thing or too as did Mazie.
