A paw in the right direction as far as admin side of rescue goes 🙏 if you’ve ever struggled with delegating as a nonprofit dog rescue founder you may understand that some of the biggest wins can be behind the scenes! One meeting away from some overdue introductions.

Now ready to start meet-and-greets with fosters/adopters!

When we first pulled the twins from Sherman Animal Shelter, it was due to a few key factors:

• young (both should maybe be a year this month)
• adoptable (just need routine and training now)
• at risk (of euthanasia due to happy tail & kennel stress)

We had worked with them a few times prior, seeing, and sharing, how trainable the two dogs are we could not let the young ones get put down before their first birthday

When the twins first arrived sister was inches taller and thicker but still had some weight to gain. The happy tail we had of course hoped would be manageable within our own abilities… However we got to a point that the vets were suggesting complete amputation, so that caused a few additional weeks’ delay.

Today Brother is now taller than sister, both continue to gain weight, though medical restriction and medication did seem to kick brothers weight gain a bit off track but he gets eggs and pb once a day to continue his recourse.

Sister is better mannered of course, what lady isn’t, even though she is not a fan of the crate and did have one instance that we shared where she broke out — so routine consistency and a strong crate are definitely a strong mix for this doe-eyed beauty

Brother is better in crate, does require a potty schedule (right now that looks like 6:30am, 1:00pm, 9:30pm, and at least 2 more times between right after eating / drinking. He was doing so great on training before the cones but we are now back to working on no jumping, he still remember sit and come though!

After the cones we are re-working leash for both, sister still seems scared to sit since her tail has been amputated but she is just sweet ever!

These are BIG dogs. They need a home that will respect and love that.

These are YOUNG dogs. They need a home that will set and maintain consistent boundaries and routines.

They are believed to be littermates, they don’t have to go together, but both may need more time to decompress without the other.

Shared to start weaving in more information, not just the adoptable pets we are supporting inside shelters, at events, online, or in foster through our own personal rescue!

Since we received the “official” 501(c)3 nonprofit status, thanks to everyone’s support, Different Breed Solutions Rescue has supported 140+ dogs so far this year! (And we still have this quarter to finish!)

Today we ask everyone:

In a world where people keep sharing and supporting fake pages, yes we are talking about those massive pet pages that are monetized for just reposting rescues and real volunteers efforts and work, that say they are there to support rescues and shelters but get offended when they get asked to credit the ones spending their time and resources doing that work, better yet call to harass us when its called out.

We ask everyone to follow Different Breed Solutions Rescue on all platforms and subscribe to our website (all linked in the bio) please invite your friends and family as well, coworkers and bosses too

We say this as people who spent years in shelters volunteering and capturing our own content, making our own observations, to save pets, not just posting adoptable pets or ones with viral attention to monetize an account or get fast follows and engagement.

TCAP is still free (all month in October) for male cats and dogs, there is ZERO excuse or reason not to take advantage and help stop the overpopulation crises.

Either you get your pets fixed or you are apart of the problem. There is no gray area here.

Be responsible or don’t own pets.

Oldie but goodie (like a day old 😅) Doofy knew yesterday was the day he could take his cone off.

Did he wait for help? Like most men, absolutely not.

But he is free and happy to be for certain because he’s right back to walking with his chin on my hip eyes on me 🥹
