🐾💕 This Week's Brave Patient: Miss Marla! 💕🐾

Can we get a BIG round of a-paws for this beautiful girl?! 👏🐶

Meet Marla, a 10-year-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever who has been an absolute SUPERSTAR during her recent visits with us! 🌟

Miss Marla has had to endure multiple blood draws for testing, but you would never know it by her attitude! Through every poke and every visit, she's remained the same sweet, happy, tail-wagging girl we know and adore. 🥹💗

Here she is soaking up some well-deserved love from her friend, Nurse Sydney! 🥰

Marla, we know all those pokes aren't much fun, but your patience, bravery, and unwaveringly sweet spirit have stolen our hearts! We're SO proud of you, beautiful girl! 💕

Let's show Miss Marla some love for being such an exceptionally good girl! 🐾❤️

🐱💕 Happy National Cat Day! Meet Winnie! 💕🐱

Everyone, say hello to the beautiful Miss Winnie! 😍🐾

This gorgeous 5-year-old girl stopped by Kelly Vet and absolutely stole the show with her stunning mismatched eyes and picture-purrfect face! 💙💚

While the rest of us are celebrating National Cat Day, Winnie would like to remind everyone that EVERY day should be a national holiday dedicated to cats! 👑✨

And with a face like that, who are we to argue?! 😂💕

Here's to all the fabulous felines who rule our homes, steal our hearts, and graciously allow us to live in their houses! 🐈💗

Happy National Cat Day from Winnie and all of us at Kelly Vet! 🐾

🍫🐾 Happy National Chocolate Day! For us, chocolate is a delicious treat—but for our pets, it can be dangerous!
Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, which dogs and cats can’t process the way we do. Generally, the darker the chocolate, the greater the risk, with baking and dark chocolate being especially concerning.
🚨 Signs of chocolate toxicity can include vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst, restlessness, increased heart rate, tremors, and seizures.
If you think your pet got into chocolate, don’t wait for symptoms to appear and don’t induce vomiting unless instructed by a veterinary professional. The amount and type of chocolate eaten—as well as your pet’s weight—matter when determining the risk.
Keep the chocolate for the humans this National Chocolate Day! 😉🍫❤️

🐱🚨 When “he’s having trouble peeing” becomes an EMERGENCY…
Urinary issues in cats can sometimes look minor at first—frequent trips to the litter box, straining, crying, or only producing a few drops of urine. But if your cat is unable to urinate, a urinary blockage can quickly become life-threatening.
⚠️ Signs to watch for include:
- Repeatedly going to the litter box
- Straining with little or no urine produced
- Crying or vocalizing while trying to urinate
- Blood in the urine
- Licking the urinary area frequently
- Hiding, restlessness, or lethargy
- Loss of appetite or vomiting
This is especially important for male cats, who are at greater risk of developing a urethral obstruction because of their anatomy.
🚨 If your cat is straining and not producing urine—or you aren't sure whether they're urinating—don't wait to see if it improves. Contact a veterinarian right away.
And please never attempt to squeeze or express your cat's bladder at home.
Knowing what to look for could quite literally save your cat's life. ❤️🐾

Vet Tech Week may be over, but we couldn’t let it pass without giving a HUGE thank you to some of the amazing partners who helped make our team feel extra spoiled and appreciated! 🐾✨
