I'm alive!
•My first round with covid absolutely sucked
•Mystique had a gorgeous litter of babies
•tic tac doe's litter all survived and are doing amazing
•more mama's are expecting babies
•the goslings are getting huge and the whole family is looking for a new coop.
•we are down to 1 puppy left from Saber's litter because Serabi found a forever home

I see why dandelion syrup is called sunshine in a bottle. Its beautiful!

It tastes floral and kinda fruity. I absolutely will be doing this again.

My boys decided they wanted to pick flowers yesterday. Today I'm processing the clean dandelions while sitting in bed. This cold is kicking my butt. Hopefully my first attempt at dandelion syrup tastes as good as it looks.

The broth turned out absolutely delicious!

I did something a bit different. After the rabbit was fully cooked for the brothy goodness I de-boned it and baked it for a short bit with black garlic honey. Its amazing and I will be doing this again. The kids will get noodles with the meat and some broth.

I like to keep everything separate with soups (broth, noodles, and meat) because something always doesn't want to be leftovers and tastes weird when not re heated a certain way.

The kids are sick and requested "noodle soup" so "chicken" noodle soup it is!

Of course with small children (and the hubby) you gotta find interesting ways for them to eat their greens. These are an assortment of freeze dried greens that have been blended into a powder. This vegi powder is snuck in just about everything I cook.

I am always thankful for each life I raise and harvest. I am thankful their life will not be wasted. I am thankful for the love, babies, hides, nourishment, and everything else my rabbits provide for me and mine.

It's things like preparing an animal I've grown myself that reminds me to stop for a second and remember all that I'm thankful for.

Ray of Sunshine

Jovi was on his second abcess and when I had recovered enough from the house front steps assisanation attempt I was going to drain it again and give him another chance. Unfortunately in the last few days jovi had started telling me it was time. Internally the only things that looked weird was a rock solid heart and his lungs didn't feel right.

Over the winter everyone got a cold that lasted about 3 ish days to a week max, except Bund n Roses. He stayed sick with goopy eyes and a runny nose. I was hoping he would kick the cold, but he never did.

Ray of Sunshine has been acting off for about a month. None of her breedings ever took, she never wanted to lift either. A few days ago she started looking "hunchy" rabbits tend to hunch up and stay in a corner if they aren't feeling well, and thats what was happening. Unfortunately my guess of pyrometra was confirmed rather quickly.

It must have been something with the warmer weather to set off two of the three that where culled today. It's a huge loss for my small rabbitry, but the light at the tunnel isn't a train, it's more baby rabbits that will be here in a few weeks.

On a lighter note, If you ever need to cull rabbits in a boot, and trash bag can sinch tight enough to stop blood droplets and does a wonderful job of protecting the protection.

Mama goose sat so faithfully. A few days ago it was determined that her remaining eggs where no good. Luckily an all call to my wonderful community resulted in these two beautiful babies yesterday.

Mama goose and Sir goose are over the moon with happiness and will be an absolute menace to anyone who even glances in these babies direction.

Widow goose has been a bit spicy with her wellness checks the last few days. Today she came off the nest and is was able to check the eggs. According to my bestie if you can't shine a light through them but can see the air pocket, they are either close to hatching, or close to exploding, either way it will be egg-citing!

My last litter of rabbits was in July. I always give my rabbits a break for the heat, but this is crazy. No one has wanted to lift, boys don't want to put in the effort, no babies. A lot of rabbit people have had the same problem these last few years and I guess it was my turn. Was! The dry spell was broken yesterday!

Tic Tac Doe, the rabbit I kept that was born in the July litter blessed me with 6 fat babies! Everything was textbook. She made a gorgeous nest, pulled the perfect amount of fur, and covered them after they where born. I am very pleased with how good of a mama she is! I always expect something to go wonky with first timers, not Mistques daughter! Just like her mama.

This litter we have solid black (maybe a black otter), solid blue, broken black, and broken blue babies. Introducing Tic Tac's April fools babies ❤️

Shawl update! This thing is getting heavy! I don't know how many more rows I'll put in it, but its getting close do done. Maybe one or two more teal sections.
