As my lesson kids prepare for fair week this year, it all is hitting different. New horse and rider combo all around with only a short time to prepare, adjust, and adapt.

The learning curve and emotions are high for one not being able to show his heart horse this year due to health issues, who he has had to jump hurdle after hurdle with mentally, and physical issues over the past year. Betrayal is how this rider feels towards his boy Gus. In the past couple weeks we've finally put him in the right place, the right headspace, he's not betraying anyone, hes giving his horse the R&R he needs, for maybe a chance at next year.

The other adapting to same, high emotions, a big heart, and her horse being a pasture puff forever now. The horse being ridden is not a replacement, but a new soul to love, learning to open your heart to more than one soul is a valuable trait in a young child.

As for me as a coach, you'll be catching me NOT running around like a chicken this year. I'll be likely with a cane or crutches in hand. My L5/S1, is essentially being crushed [circumferential] , I am slowly on the mend been down since thursday. So if anyone acts up this year, i will not be the first to volunteer to jump on your naughty being to correct behavior like last year my kids or not. I cannot do it. I'll be on the fence, you wont miss me. There will be signs. 🤣 quite literally.

Well, your's truly has done it again with her lumbar region and discs. [ no I didnt get yeeted, no cool stories] , will be out of the saddle for a hot minute. However give me a couple of days to recoup with the cocktail the hospital gave me, praying I will be ready for fair week, just moving a bit more cautiously.

As the final week with client horse Wyatt closes very soon... a much calmer, and confident horse leaves. He is one of the smoothest gaited horses I have ridden in a long time, there is still much to accomplish, but, we will be following up with some at home lessons to continue his progress 😀

Remember Wyatt our temporary resident? I have come to learn he has to adapt to his people. He comes to trust slowly, Does not trust easily. Had a habit of backwards flight upon something he did not like. Thats changing!

Today we did our pre ground work session and the rake leaning on the corner of the arena was our death defying enemy. By the end, I could drag it next to him on both sides, wave it over his head. Flop it up and down in the cone < even smacked myself in the face doing such> he likes to try and eat the pool noodles now that fly thru the air. Crosses the bridge like a champ. Next is our tarp.

Today's ride went off beautifully.

The old wooden paddock is offically redone. 😅 Super happy to have finally finished it as it seems to have been put off for like.... ever . . . However we got our much needed drainage ditch in first! Bring on hay season, new arena sand, and maybe squeeze in the new wash rack 🤣
