What My Cancer Journey Taught Me – Part 1

The body I kept pushing...

was the body trying to keep me alive.

For almost 10 years, I worked non-stop.

16-hour days.
No holidays.
No real off days.

Building Angie's Pets from the ground up.

I groomed animals, managed clients, ran the business, built my social media presence and even helped rehome abandoned rabbits that were left behind.

Was it tiring?

Absolutely.

But my heart was full.

And the hard work paid off.

Over the years, Angie’s Pets was featured in The Straits Times and CNA.

The business grew.

People recognised the work.

There were results.

But in 2018, cancer forced me to stop.

Hospital stays.
Surgery.
Chemotherapy.

And for the first time, I realised something important.

All those years, I thought my body existed to support my work.

But actually...

My work existed because my body was supporting me.

Without my health, I couldn't do any of the things I worked so hard to build.

The body I kept pushing every day was the body trying to keep me alive.

Since then, I've learned to slow down.

To take breaks.

To exercise when I can.

To rest without feeling guilty.

To understand that recovery is not laziness.

It's necessary.

So if you're reading this and you've been telling yourself:

"Just one more project."
"Just one more month."
"I'll rest later."

Maybe this is your reminder.

❤️ Rest is productive.

Take the break.
