Jewellery Gallery - Workshop FOUR is a gallery and studio for contemporary jewellery. FOUR är ett galleri kombinerat med ateljé för samtida smyckekonst.

Strollers, wheelchairs are welcome to Four. The gallery is on street level and the entrance measures 80 cm and the doorstep is 25 cm. Dogs are also welcome at Four. We have

an inner yard where you can park larger carriages while visiting the gallery. We can also offer visitors a toilet however it is a small space not adapted for disabled. At Vegagatan, about 200m from Four, you will find the nearest disabled parking lot. Since Four is also a workshop we are not always capable to avoid strong odours. Four is located in a steep hill. TILLGÄNGLIGHET
Barnvagnar, rullatorer och liknande är varmt välkomna till Four. Galleriet ligger i gatuplan och entrén till galleriet är 80 cm, med en tröskel på 25 cm. Hundar är också välkomna på Four. Det finns möjlighet att utnyttja vår innergård för att parkera större rullstolar och andra hjälpmedel. Vi har en toalett men den är liten och inte handikapp-anpassad. Närmaste handikapparkering finns på Vegagatan ca 200m från Four. Då halva lokalen utgörs av vår verkstad kan det förekomma starka dofter. Four ligger i en brant backe. In Marianne Schliwinski’s work, you see contrasts playing together. Her language consists of materials and their different qualities. Things might not always be what they seem – light pieces with a heavy look and weighty works with a light appearance. Marianne Schliwinski often combines papier-mâché with found objects. Different paints and lacquers accentuate the materials and shapes. The composition, the materials and colours tell sensible, political and sometimes funny stories.

The Swedish artist Märta Mattsson’s exceptional skills to find balance on the edge between the beautiful and the disgusting has made her work well known internationally. “Sometimes I see beauty in things that other people find strange or are even repulsed by. My jewellery deals with the tension that lies between attraction and repulsion”.

Staffan Jonsson’s summer job as a cemetery gardener became a starting-point for this project that deals with the moments between life and death. The works have associations to childlike toys, naivety, darkness and sometimes violence. This piece is built up from sheets and rods of sterling-silver; cut, filed and soldered. The dark surface is niello - a metal alloy of silver copper, led and sulphur that gives a strong cover and an expression that fits perfectly with the motif.

Hanna Liljenberg grew up surrounded by the harsh environments and salty seaside rocks on the Swedish west coast. The aesthetics of the landscape colours her work. Pale coloured shapes made out of paper contrasts oxidized brass, reminiscent of lichen growing on windswept granite.

Rings can be very personal and intimate. You touch them, you move them around the finger and they even affect the gestures and movement pattern of your hands. They are also highly social. They often work as conversation starters and radiate signals that sometimes tells stories about the wearer. Not only if they are married or engaged but also about their personality. A ring could definitely give a hint that the person in the neat suit deep down have a rock n’ roll heart.

Wood is a material that is both dead and alive at the same time. Even though the tree has stopped growing, it continues to change through Sofia Bankeström’s processing and is affected by conditions such as humidity and light. The dynamics of the material reflect the constant transformation in nature and our own lives.

Lena Olson has been working with wood for many years. Her extensive knowledge of the material allows her to create soft, tactile shapes out of the hard and often wilful material. The wood challenges the artist both technically and intellectually and the jewellery expresses harmony and craft skill.
