Our brave furry friend fought hard and survived a long and difficult battle against FPV and FCV!

Minnie was admitted to our clinic with a serious and life-threatening illness. After thorough laboratory testing, she was confirmed to have Feline Panleukopenia Virus and Feline Coronavirus.

FPV and FCV are serious viral diseases that can weaken a kitten's immune system and become life-threatening; one infected cat can spread the disease to all other cats in the household. Unfortunately, this disease is one of the most fatal viral infections in cats, necessitating aggressive treatment and intensive care.

With professional veterinary care, dedication, and their own incredible perseverance, Minnie made it through. After more than a week of intensive care, she is now finally home and recovering. 🐾❤️‍🩹

Due to a severe infection, maggots developed in the dog's wound.

Myiasis typically developed when flies lay their eggs in open or infected wounds. When these eggs hatch into larvae or maggots, the maggots feed on the affected tissues, causing extensive and sometimes fatal damage.

This is a very cruel condition as the maggots are eating the dog alive, causing a lot of suffering and pain. The maggots secrete enzymes that necrotize the healthy skin, resulting in a foul/decaying odor.

Here are some tips for preventing myiasis:

1. Proper hygiene. Flies are not attracted to a clean and odor-free pet or environment.
2. Wounds should be treated promptly and kept clean and dry.
3. Avoid fly-infested areas, and keep pets indoors.
4. The use of fly traps and repellents.

TERMINATION SPAY IN CATS

This refers to the spaying of a female cat during pregnancy. Spay abortion is common, safe and necessary, particularly in stray populations, to prevent pet overpopulation and protect the mother's health. This process includes the abortion of any unborn fetuses, and is widely considered the most humane option by rescuers.

Here’s why:
• Many kittens don’t survive. 75% born outside die before 6 months old.

• Cats don’t mourn the loss of a pregnancy, but they do mourn the loss of a kitten after it is born.

• Kittens do not feel pain. They are undeveloped fetuses. The procedure is done humanely under anesthesia.

• It can save the mother. Complications giving birth can be fatal for a cat and/or kittens.

Spay abort is not cruel. It is about preventing more cats from being born in a world where they have nowhere to go. 🐾💚

This 11-year-old male dog was brought to us with a painful, foul-smelling bleeding right ear. We eventually out that it has been scratching its ear for weeks. We provided alleviation and an opportunity for healing by sedating, examining, and removing several maggots from the canal.
