2x vosmeri ecelectus eggs ( same parents )
Ecelectus eggs expected dates 28-30 days
Egg no 1 set on Monday 8:00am
Egg n 2 set on Wednesday 11:00am
Both eggs freshly laid.
Both eggs same incubator zoologica 24
Both eggs showed blood cells at day no 4
Both eggs grew extremely well.
Egg no 1 started to draw down at day 27 ( draw down internal pip)
Egg no 2 at day 27 nothing still looked okay nice visible blood lines leading to and around the embryo.
Egg no1 nice clean hatch on day 30 excellent
Egg no 2 day 30 still nothing egg looks fine but no movement at all ( no sign of draw down ) ????
Egg no 2 day 33 still nothing ? What to do now enter the egg risking the chick ? Or leave it be?
Egg no 2 now day 35 okay we have a dark shadow at the base of the egg now ( internal pip chick now entering the air cell)
Egg no 2 finally day 36 eggs draw down chick can be seen working its way out 👍👍👍👍
Egg no 2 hatched successfully on day 37?
Why ? That’s why they call it artificial incubation!
Both eggs
Temperature 37.4
Humidity 34-40%
Egg turning every 2 hrs and 25 minutes.
So why one will never now both chicks are doing fine👌
Years ago I would enter the egg at day 30 thinking the worst but now I’ve learnt just to leave things be.
A very important fact on natural incubation.
1/ the hen never sits at 37.4 she sits tight and sits loose she leaves the egg to eat drink shower.
2/ the hen dose not own a watch she may roll the egg 4-5-6-7-8-9 times a day.
3/ eggs never sit in the same spot she is always moving the eggs around.
4/ no hen ever turns her egg at a perfect 90 degrees more like 80-70-60 degrees.
