Why ?
Work load it’s now a full day caring for our animals taking up most of our days.
As for cages always on going maintenance and alterations to be done after every breeding season!
As for new additions yes there will be a few for what comes in one must go ??

Work load although Ryne and my self still enjoy the birds any more would just be too much 👍

Get a helper some say your joking it’s Rynes way or no way 😂😂😂😂😂

Just comes down to knowing your limitations the smart way is the best way 👌

Upstairs is full bird room is full incubation room is becoming very demanding now.

Clientele base is great and we thank every single one of you❤️

All above can be achieved for myself it’s all the above👍
1/ my racing pigeons this year returns have been very slim pickings to say the least?
But that’s not to say I’m still not enjoying racing my birds.
2/ our dogs we normally have 2/4 litters every year they are great but we regard them as family not $$$$$.

3/ PARROTS 🦜
Without going into to much detail they have been good to us.
6 years on now here there has not been not to many disappointments 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Sorry I don’t know others nor his or her expectations!

Ambitions
Expected returns.

For ourselves:
1/ most importantly do we generally like the bird ?
2/ are we just following others for a quick fix!(NEVER)
3/affordability can we afford to purchase them
( some yes some 100% not)

Everyone’s expectations are different so it would be silly of me to advise one way or another.
Anybody to do so would just be a fool !
I can only go by what we keep and breed here at D&R birds
Over 40+ years birds have been very kind to myself they seem to fill in a missing piece.
Me like so many others am not rich nor have a disposable income so to see a return small or large is a nice thing👍

More importantly the only bit of advice I will give is if you enjoy your hobby if it puts a smile on your face then do it 👍

So you’re going to purchase a breeding pair with large $$$$ involved ?
1/ the breeding box never lies photo 1/2 are my best pair of breeders AGP box is only 2 seasons old.
2/ photo 3 is a brand new box hen until now has never entered it! (Asiatics)

We dont sell breeding pairs but if we were to I would highly recommend you spend 3-4 hours viewing the pair in question ( depending on how much time you have).

Upon viewing go straight to the nesting box,
The nesting box never lies also good breeding pairs will often get defensive upon viewing.

Sometimes breeders are no different to car salesmen or insurance brokers they only tell you what you need to hear ?

It’s a big gamble purchasing so called breeding pairs we done it 5 years ago what the breeder didn’t tell us is that the hen eats the babies ?
1/ still a breeding pair description not 100% accurate?
2/ lucky for us we have the time to pull the eggs hatch them then hand rear the babies 👌

So proven breeding pairs sometimes a breeder might be quitting so sure there are going to be breeding pairs available 👍

Sometimes a breeder might just be moving on a troublesome pair ??

But as a rule of thumb viewing and the nesting boxes can tell 100 stories 👌

You only have to make the most out of what you have 👍👍👍

If you go to big your rely on helpers minders or staff ? None of which care as much as you the owner.
Keeping it on a small scale with good techniques and good productivity is always the way to go 👍👍👍👍

Safe guard that’s what I’m calling this one 👍
Every bird breeder knows the benefits of papaya
(It’s all well goodness helping with slow or poor crop movement) ect
With so many chicks on the go at the moment from new borns to weaning stage,
I’ve decided to start using papaya every day 1st sometimes 2nd feed ?

We get the ripe papaya fruit skin and seeds blend it as fine as we can get it👌
Make up ice cube trays for continued stocks and freeze it.
Is it working ?
Chick number 38-39-40 now ( lost count)
Not one slow developer from tiels to greys and most inbetween👍
Is it the papaya or just good luck ???
Not sure but your never to old to try something new 👌
Just maybe prevention is better than cure!

Understanding humidity?
During incubation by far the largest egg fatalities are drowning! ( chicks drowning inside the egg)

Young breeder on his first attempt of incubation lost all his eggs ( Devastating)

1/ he brought all the sufficient equipment.

2/ he took the wrong advise and studied a technique used in a dry Climate ( Australia)

Results all eggs lost 3/4 the way through his incubation period!

While google is a great tool and very helpful 👍
One needs to understand the different climates

Australia = very dry climate ( water is definitely needed during incubation)
Phillipines = a very humid climate.( not so much water needed during incubation if any at all)

Eg here in Cebu my incubation room is air conditioned @ 27 degrees 24/7 I have 2 large trays of vermiculite also perlite to absorb humidity,
And still my room runs around 34% relative humidity?

My preference on humidity is 36% during egg development and a little higher during draw down time of the egg.

So how much water do I need in my incubator = not much at all👌

So the only advice would be understand what is is you are following ( climate temperature facility equipment) it all differs a great deal👍
