Yesterday, a patient came in with a worrying complaint — bloody discharge and difficulty urinating. Upon examination (palpation, lab tests, and radiographs), we found the bladder was severely distended. Further checks revealed a small lump at the tip of the p***s, strongly suspected to be TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor).
Because the tumor was blocking the urinary opening, the dog could no longer pass urine. To relieve him and save his life, our team performed a urethrostomy — creating a new passage for urine flow while he undergoes chemotherapy for tumor treatment.
It was a challenging but successful procedure, and most importantly, our patient can finally urinate again comfortably.
This case is a reminder that early check-ups matter. What may start as “just discharge” can be a sign of something more serious. Timely veterinary care can truly save lives.
