A remarkable response in just two chemotherapy sessions. 🀍

Meet Matteo, an 11-year-old dog diagnosed with multicentric lymphoma and a pre-existing heart condition.

At presentation, Matteo had marked generalized peripheral lymphadenopathy, with the largest lymph node measuring approximately 14 cm in diameter and several others measuring around 11–14 cm.

Given his age, cardiac condition, and diagnosis, chemotherapy was understandably a difficult decision for his family. With careful consideration, individualized treatment, and close monitoring, Matteo was started on chemotherapy.

After only two sessions, the largest right prescapular lymph node has decreased from approximately 14 cm to 2 cm in diameter.

It is an encouraging early response, and while we are not calling this remission at this point, this progress gives us a very good reason to keep going.

There is still a road ahead for Matteo, but today, we celebrate how far he has already come.

🩸 SEVERE ANEMIA IN DOGS IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY 🐢🚨

Anemia means your dog's body doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen. When anemia becomes severe, it can quickly become life-threatening.

Common causes of severe anemia include:
🩸 Blood loss
β€’ Trauma or accidents
β€’ Bleeding wounds
β€’ Internal bleeding
β€’ Stomach ulcers
β€’ Heavy flea or tick infestations

🦠 Blood parasite infections
β€’ Ehrlichiosis
β€’ Babesiosis
β€’ Anaplasmosis
These diseases are commonly transmitted by ticks and can destroy your dog's red blood cells.

🦠 Severe infections
Some bacterial or viral infections can suppress the bone marrow or trigger the destruction of red blood cells, leading to anemia.

⚠️ Warning signs to watch for:
🐾 Very pale or white gums
🐾 Weakness or collapse
🐾 Sleeping more than usual
🐾 Loss of appetite
🐾 Rapid breathing or panting
🐾 Fast heart rate
🐾 Dark or bloody urine
🐾 Fever (in some cases)

🩺 How is it treated?
Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may include:
βœ”οΈ Blood transfusion for critically anemic patients
βœ”οΈ Anti-parasitic medications
βœ”οΈ Antibiotics (when indicated)
βœ”οΈ IV fluids and supportive care
βœ”οΈ Oxygen therapy
βœ”οΈ Medications to control bleeding or support red blood cell production

This brave little cat came to us with a severe injury to the ear. What may look like a simple wound can quickly become infected, cause significant pain, and lead to permanent damage if left untreated.
