🚨 ALERT: Parvo cases are spiking this month!
Parvo season is officially here. We are seeing an unusually high number of canine parvovirus cases right now. This virus is fast, highly contagious, and can be fatal, but it is highly PREVENTABLE!
If you have a dog (especially a puppy!), here is what you need to know to keep them safe:
🛡️ The #1 Defense: Vaccines
🔸 Parvo can live in grass and soil for months. Your dog doesn’t even need to meet another dog to catch it—just sniffing the wrong patch of grass is enough.
🔸 Puppies: Need a series of shots starting at 6–8 weeks old, repeated every 2–4 weeks until they completed 4 sessions.
🔸 Adults: Don't skip the boosters! They need regular updates to keep their immunity strong.
Reminder: Puppies are not fully protected until 7–10 days after their final vaccine shot.
🚫 Quick Prevention Tips
🔸 Avoid High-Traffic Areas: Skip dog parks, pet stores, and public grassy walkways until your pup is fully vaccinated.
🔸 Paws Off the Ground: Carry your puppy when visiting any public areas. Do not let them walk on the public floor or the grass outside.
🔸 BYO Water: Avoid communal water bowls. Bring your own bowl and water from home.
🔸 Leave Shoes at the Door: Parvo can hitch a ride into your house on the bottoms of your shoes.
‼️Know the Symptoms: Call a vet immediately if you see severe lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, or bloody diarrhea. Early treatment saves lives!
Is your pet protected? Don't wait out the spike. Call your vet to check their records or schedule a booster today!
