He has said that working as an animal-rights activist is his “main job in life.”

Most artists tour to make money.

Moby has used concerts, restaurants, books, and his public platform to push attention toward animals who cannot speak for themselves.

He has been vegan for decades.

He has supported rescue groups.

He has raised money for animal charities.

And he keeps using his fame to remind people that success does not have to be only about what you keep.

It can also be about what you give away.

In an industry built around ego, image, and profit, Moby has made a very different statement.

The music made him famous.

But helping animals is what he wants to be remembered for.

I thank God for letting our lives meet, however briefly. For giving me the privilege of caring for him, and for allowing me to imagine the little life of adventure and freedom that lay ahead of him. Like any kitten, he left small scratches on both my legs. They will heal long before I want them to. Until then, I’ll wear them gratefully as the small proofs of a love that asked for nothing except to be returned.
