For cats with WET FIP, draining all the fluid buildup in the abdomen is a no-no.

We only remove enough fluid to help the cat breathe more comfortably. The goal is to address the underlying disease, not simply keep draining the fluid.

So yes, hindi kailangan paulit-ulit na i-drain ang fluid. Treat the FIP, and let the body do the rest😉

Every FIP case is different, and treatment should be guided by a veterinarian.!☺️

Rivalta's Test 🧪

A simple, affordable, and very helpful test that can support the diagnosis of wet FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis).

We recently had a cat with a swollen belly. The FIP rapid test showed only a very faint line, so we performed additional tests to help confirm our suspicion.

We collected a small sample of the abdominal fluid and performed a Rivalta's test. A positive result creates the characteristic "jellyfish" appearance as the fluid slowly sinks through the solution.(We didn't add any food coloring to make it look like a jellyfish. Hehe)

We also ran a blood chemistry test, which showed:
High total protein
High globulin
Low albumin

When these findings are seen together with the cat's symptoms, they are highly suggestive of wet FIP.
Sometimes, simple tests like Rivalta's test, together with blood chemistry and a thorough examination, can provide valuable clues and help us make better decisions for our patients.☺️

Not all lumps are harmless‼️‼️

This is Peanut's case, diagnosed with hepatoid gland adenocarcinoma, a cancerous tumor of the peria**l glands.

A biopsy is very important because it tells us exactly what kind of tumor we're dealing with and helps us choose the right treatment. We should never rely on appearance alone.

In Peanut's case, we were worried because the tumor had grown deep and might have involved the a**l sphincter, which could have affected his ability to p**p normally after surgery.

Thankfully, the surgery went well, and Peanut still has full control of his bowel movements. ❤️

🐾 Early diagnosis and treatment can make a big difference. If you notice any unusual lump or swelling on your pet, have it checked by your veterinarian as soon as possible.
