LEPTOSPIROSIS Alert!!!
OPI – A LEPTOSPIROSIS POSITIVE PATIENT
Today, our patient Opi tested positive for Leptospirosis using the rapid test kit, and his blood chemistry results showed supportive findings, including changes in his kidney and/or liver values consistent with Lepto infection.
🩺 Clinical Findings:
• Positive Lepto test kit
• Blood chemistry showing elevated kidney/liver markers
• Symptoms consistent with leptospirosis
Because Leptospirosis can progress quickly, we have already started supportive treatments, including:
• IV fluid therapy
• Antibiotics
• Liver and kidney protectants
• Close monitoring of urine output and hydration
• Follow-up blood tests for his response to treatment
💛 Opi is currently under close observation, and we are committed to giving him the best care possible. Please include Opi in your prayers as he continues his fight to recovery.
To all pet owners: If your dog shows sudden weakness, vomiting, dark urine, or has been exposed to floodwater, seek veterinary attention immediately. Early diagnosis, like in Opi’s case, saves lives.
Important Reminder: Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that can spread from dogs to humans through contact with the urine of infected animals. It can also be contracted from contaminated water or soil. The illness can range from mild, flu-like symptoms to severe, life-threatening conditions involving kidney and liver failure in both dogs and humans.
