Charlotte and Frankie were on feeding out duties today. Our springers cows are getting a bit of hay with Magnesium on these cold and frosty mornings.
Calves are on the drop.

This week marked the passing of a true legend Dicks younger brother Bob Jolly. Born and raised at Hingaia, Bob left a lasting legacy in the agricultural industry. Through his decades of research, he played a crucial role in the discovery of inherited metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases in animals, ultimately reducing and eliminating many diseases that would have had a profound economic impact on our industry including cattle. Additionally his research was also used for the bases of curing human diseases, he will be deeply missed by us all.

Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University wishes to acknowledge the passing of Professor Emeritus Robert Jolly, MNZM, who made outstanding contributions to veterinary pathology and whose research helped bridge animal and human medical science.

It’s been a week since our Sale day and a great time for reflection.
We do it because we have a huge passion for good Angus cattle and love meeting people with the same passion.
A massive thank you to everyone that helps support us to do what we love, especially bidders and under bidders. We also wouldn’t get through Sale day without all our extra hands we rope in for the day.
Now our attention turns to the Cows, calving is just around the corner!

With only a week until sale day, Charlotte and Imogen have been studying the bulls morning and night. They have picked Lot 14 as one to give three ticks. ✅ ✅✅

A son of Taimate Roy, which is a real curve bender with his low birth and good growth.
We used him as yearling here at the stud. Such a well balanced bull that has bounced back quickly to match his counterparts.

It’s not just the commodity prices looking good at the moment but also our future farmers!
It was great to host the King Country Growing Future Farmers fencing course for the last two days. They did a great job here on Hingaia and it’s exciting to see what the future holds for them.

Thanks to those who helped make the bull walk a success. For those who asked about the bull in the front paddock. Here’s a little video of “George” who has his first lot of sons in this year’s sale including Lot 1. George’s grand father Millah Marrah Klooney has had record sales for his progeny in Australia including averaging $50, 000 for his yearling sales in 2017. He has also left lovely deep bodied progeny for us.
