Joejoecinni enjoying his Equissage this morning 💆‍♂️🐴

Joejoe has been doing plenty of long and low work lately, encouraging him to stretch through his back and build up his topline and strength.

With that extra work through those muscles, we like to make sure he’s feeling his best. The Equissage is a great addition to his routine, using gentle cycloidal vibration therapy to help stimulate circulation, promote blood flow through the muscles and support relaxation and recovery.

We’re lucky enough to have two Equissage machines in the stable, and they’re kept busy all morning working their way through the team.

It’s another little tool we can use alongside their everyday training to help keep the horses feeling comfortable, relaxed and ready for their work.

Foxton Trial Results | Tuesday 1st September

Heat 15 – MDN 1200m
🥇 Hyper Intelligent – 1st
Leah Hemi

A really nice trial win from this mare today. There isn’t a lot to her physically, but she relished the nice track conditions and the step up in trip to 1200m.

She travelled nicely throughout and found the line strongly. She’ll now head to the races over 1400m, and we feel the further she gets in trip, the better she’ll be.

A pleasing step forward and we’re looking forward to getting her campaign underway.

WANGANUI RESULTS | 29 AUGUST

Race 1 — Ytoa 🥉
Masa Hashizume

A really nice effort on debut from Ytoa, having his first race-day start as a 6yo.

He’s still got plenty to learn and will take a lot of improvement from the experience. Once he gets the opportunity to step out over 2000m and further, we think he’ll develop into a really handy staying horse. A very encouraging start to his racing career.

Race 7 — Pick of the Litter — 8th
Masa Hashizume

A disappointing result from Pick of the Litter today. She travelled into the race well enough but unfortunately didn’t let down like we know she can.

She pulled up seemingly well following the race, but we’ll give her a thorough check over during the week to make sure everything is okay before making any plans going forward.

Onwards and upwards.

Runners Today | Wanganui

We head to Wanganui today with two runners, with the track currently rated a Heavy 10.

Both have drawn nicely and we’re looking forward to seeing them get out there today. Hopefully they can handle the testing conditions and put their best foot forward.

NEW ADDITION TO THE TEAM 🐎 — ZEFFERT

We’re pleased to welcome Zeffert to the team.

He’s an absolutely lovely mover with a beautiful action, and we’re really enjoying getting to know him. We’re trying a few different things with his training and routine to see if we can get his attitude and mindset in the right place, and so far he seems to be really enjoying the change.

He’s a lightly framed horse who doesn’t look like he’ll need a huge amount of work, so the focus will be on keeping him fresh, happy and enjoying what he’s doing.

One of the exercises we’ve introduced is lunging him at a trot with the roller on. It gives them a really good workout without needing to do anything too strenuous. The aim is to encourage him to work in a nice frame, working long and low to stretch through his back while gradually building his topline and strengthening through his hindquarters.

This was Zeffert’s first time doing this exercise with us and he handled it really well. There’s still plenty for him to learn, but we’re already making some nice steps in the right direction.

Hopefully by keeping things a little different, and keeping him fresh and happy, we can bring out the best in him and see some improvement in his performances going forward.
