We’ve certainly been patient with this one! 🫣
Meet Ahoy (4G Belardo x Artania).
Believe it or not, he’s unraced, untrialled, hasn’t had a single gallop yet, and today was only his first time on the treadmill. Why? Because he’s always been a big horse with plenty of growing to do, and some minor changes in his knees meant that time was always going to be his greatest ally.
He was broken in as a yearling before heading out to the paddock, where he’s spent the last three years growing, maturing, and being well cared for. Sometimes the best thing you can do for a horse is simply let them develop at their own pace.
He also boasts a pedigree that most trainers would love to have in their stable. Ahoy is from the outstanding Champagne family, a family that has produced elite performers including Bonneval, Charmont, Martique, Champagne Harmony, Lord Arthur and many other stakes performers. It’s a family renowned for producing quality horses, and we’re hopeful that with time on his side, Ahoy can add his own chapter to the story.
He’s now been on the walker for a month and took another step forward today with his first treadmill session. He has a wonderful attitude, is a pleasure to work with, and is simply a lovely horse to have around the stable.
We’re hopeful that with time, patience, and a structured preparation, he can reach his potential. For now, we’ll just keep taking it one step at a time and enjoy the journey.
Fingers and toes crossed for a sound, happy horse and an exciting future ahead. 🤞🐎
