Ahoy (4G Belardo x Artania) ⚓️

“Bobby” was broken in as a 2YO before being turned out to mature, and after two years in the paddock, he’s now back in the stable.

He was always a big, immature type—quite gangly early on—with a pedigree that suggests he’ll stay all day. Giving him the time he needed has really paid off. His joints have strengthened, he’s grown into his big frame and is now tipping the scales at around 600kg.

Bred by Bob Emery, Bobby comes from a strong family including Champagne, Charmont, Martique and Bonneval. We’re hopeful he can do the family proud and show even a fraction of their ability.

He’ll begin his preparation with plenty of treadmill work to gradually build fitness and strength before stepping out onto the track.

Looking forward to seeing how he develops 👀

Magniac (6G Lucky Street x Top Show)

Magniac kicked off his first morning back in work today after 252 days away from racing, his last start being a solid 5th in the Wong Cup over 1200m at Sha Tin.

We’re very fortunate to have secured him since arriving in New Zealand. He brings an impressive record with him — 35 starts for 5 wins and 4 placings, earning just shy of $6 million in prize money. A sharp early type, he won three races as a 2YO in Western Australia before heading to Hong Kong, where he added a further two wins, including a slick 1:08 over 1200m.

We’re hopeful a change of environment — with plenty of time outdoors and a more relaxed, paddock-based routine — will help bring out the best in him here in New Zealand.

He certainly enjoyed his first treadmill session this morning, and we’re looking forward to seeing how he progresses this preparation 🙌🏼

Almighty Kick and Lady Blanche keeping warm and dry this morning with a nice easy trot on the treadmill 🌧️

Almighty Kick has enjoyed a few quiet days after his trip away to the trials, while Lady Blanche is stepping things up and set for a run along this week — we’re not far off seeing her at the jumpouts and trials.

We’ve also got another two horses arriving into work tomorrow, bringing the team up to four — exciting times for our small team 🙌🏼

Trial Update | Foxton

We’re back and trialling, we headed to Foxton today with just the one runner 👇🏼

Heat 3 – MDN 850m
Almighty Kick 🥇 (Chris Dell)

A very pleasing first trial for Almighty Kick in New Zealand after his time racing in Hong Kong. He did everything right, especially stepping out left-handed for the first time, and was strong through the line under a hold to win comfortably.

He’s a sharp horse who’s really thrived in his new environment — enjoying being outside and the variety in his routine.

We’ll look to give him one more trial before heading to the races.

Excited to see him keep progressing in the right direction 🙌🏼

Lady Blanche enjoying a pick of grass after her treadmill session this morning 🌿

She’s returned this preparation bigger, stronger and really thriving in her work. We’re hoping to finally put the run of bad luck behind her and get her to the races this time in.

She’s a very special mare who has required plenty of patience along the way, but horses like her are always worth the wait. I’m confident she’ll reward that patience in time. 🐎✨

Almighty Kick ticking over nicely on the treadmill this morning after galloping yesterday.

The plan is to head to the jumpouts next week and then onto the trials as he works his way towards the races.

He’s looking an absolute ball of muscle at the moment and has probably been enjoying the feed bin a little too much lately, but he’s a very happy horse and it’s always nice to have a bit to work with.

Exciting to think we’ll see him step out on a New Zealand racetrack for the first time soon.

✨ Dream work makes the team work ✨

I’m incredibly fortunate to have such an amazing team around me. Happy horses and happy people — honestly, what more could you ask for?

At present, we have two horses in work, with another two set to return to the stable next month, which is very exciting.

One of the team is Almighty Kick, a beautiful Deep Field gelding recently back from Hong Kong. He had 15 starts there, consistently running solid 4th and 5th placings and rarely finishing more than four or five lengths from the winner. A drop back in company here in New Zealand, along with a bit of give in the track, should really suit him. He’ll have a couple of jumpouts before heading to the trials in the near future. He’s quite the character with a big personality and is thoroughly enjoying his paddock time — hopefully that’s the key to securing that well-deserved win going forward.

Also in work is Lady Blanche, a half-sister to Viktor Vegas. She’s an absolutely gorgeous mare who has been patiently managed through a few minor niggles. From her three trials so far, she’s recorded two seconds and a third, always showing plenty of ability. She looks a type who will appreciate more distance and softer track conditions. Having only just resumed work, we’ll take our time building her up and get her to the races this preparation.

We’re really looking forward to the 2026 season with these two and what lies ahead. 🐎✨

Almighty Kick (5 g Deep Field x Star Flight)
Enjoyed his first morning on the track today after spending several weeks on the treadmill building a solid fitness base, which he thoroughly took in his stride. He stepped out for a couple of quiet, easy rounds this morning — a far cry from the bright lights of Hong Kong.

He’s a happy horse and is settling beautifully into his new outdoor lifestyle here in New Zealand.
