Not every dog is excited to see us (it’s ok, we don’t take it personally 🙂)
The clinic can be overwhelming for dogs, even for routine visits, but there are things we can do to make it easier for them.
If you’ve got an upcoming vet visit and your dog is anxious or reactive at the vets, ask us about a “chill protocol”.
The most common version of this is an easy-to-administer medication to help your dog stay relaxed and calm. This makes it easier for your dog and means we can work faster and safer. The effect of the medication is temporary and wears off after a few hours.
If you think your pet would benefit from medication before a clinic visit, please give us a call and ask - it’s a common question we get, and we’re very happy to talk through the options with you.
We are also happy to talk about longer-term strategies that can remove or minimise the need for medications to help with nerves.
