Where do i start :-/

I'm a fashion designer, thats what my dream was, so how did i get into this Kitty Cat Rescue Buisness. My twin sister Angelique (owner of Kumeu flower farm) and I have always loved cats, ever since before i can remember. Dad tragically died when we

were only 9 years old, so leaving us with Moshie to take care of. Moshie soon became our very special cat to us as he was our only link to Dad. This had a big impact on us growing up. Our father was a good hearted, gentle, intelligent Man who we both adored so much, so to love animals as he did, came naturally to us. So back to how I got myself into this, plus my twin Sis, and my Daughter! Well, I have a design workroom in Kiakohe, and I also work in Auckland with my Daughter so I travel back and forth often. My partner lives in Horeke so I stop at the recycle station there alot. We call it "The dump", as it can look like a dumping site when people throw rubbish and household items there, including... little Kittens or Cats :-(

One night it was very late, i had just driven up from Auckland (4 1/2hrs drive) and I stopped at the dump to check if there were any kittens. It was very dark and a bit scary so I kept the truck lights on. I could here a tiny Kitten meowing, but I couldnt see it. I searched around the bush, and then around the containers..... then.. i heard a tiny meow coming from one of the containers. The lid was locked shut so I couldnt open it. What was I going to do? I can't leave this tiny helpless little kitten. I found a piece of wood and wedged it between the lid to create an opening, so the kitten might be able to climb out. I then rung one of the girls that worked there to come early in the morning to unlock the container before the trucks come to pick them up. She agreed so I went home hoping and praying that the Kitten might be able to get out in the night, but if not, then the lid was unlocked early enough. In the morning, I rung to check, Sure enough,
kitten had managed to escape :-) We had success!!! So then the Rescue mission began, to find this little Kitten amongst the bush. His Name is Zack :-)

From there it became mandatory to check the dump everytime i went past. We have saved many Kittens since and tragically lost some also. Please see our amazing Urgent Kitten Rescue in Horeke, "At the Dump" of our heartfelt tribute to the one we lost :-(

Due to Covid 19 many Rescue facilitys were overwhelmed and unable to take any kittens or cats, so with no other options available at the time, it came apparant I needed to start this rescue. Our devoted friend and furbaby of 19 years Copper, Died in 2019 in my daughters arms when I was travelling back from a rescue upnorth, so in his memory we named our rescue after him οΏ½

So began Coppercat Rescue. We are now caring for upto 30 Kittens and Cats in Auckland, and Horeke, with many others being fostered in Auckland. Something as selfless as rescue could be an example to others of true unity, compassion, and working together to benefit not only the Kittens and Cats but also our community. I hope you feel the same and can help us to keep looking after and saving these little souls. Without you, we cant do this, so a BIG thank you to YOU too!

10 Dogs. 10 Souls. 1 Chance.

UPDATE:
Thank you so much to everyone who has contacted us regarding these beautiful dogs.

We have people keen to adopt a couple dogs which is fantastic so far. We have had people offering food and people buying food online.
We are so grateful thank you πŸ™
We still need help with rehoming or fostering πŸ™ so please share this post.

Due to the very low temperatures coming up we are in desperate need of Hay, bedding and blanket supplies. Most of the dogs are sleeping on dirt and many don't have dry clean shelters.

If you are able to help with the bedding or other supplies needed please look at these links below.
The store selection should be in kiakohe and we can pick up from there. Please advise the store that Coppercat Rescue will pick up and advise us when you have completed your order 😍

Here are some links with the type of products we need:-)

If anyone has large bales of straw, tarps and/or dog kennels/houses please message us with your details.

ORIGINAL POST:

There's a group of dogs living in a pine forest in Northland. We brought cooked rice, meat, fresh water and a little time.

What we found were dogs that desperately wanted attention, affection and human connection. Despite their circumstances, many were gentle, friendly and eager to interact.

A beautiful black-and-white boy stole our hearts. As soon as we sat with him he offered his paw, leaned into our touch and simply wanted someone to spend time with him.

These dogs deserve more.

They deserve:
🐾 Regular food
🐾 Fresh water
🐾 Shelter
🐾 Veterinary care
🐾 Exercise and enrichment
🐾 Love and companionship
🐾 A safe place to call home

We are beginning to document each dog and are urgently looking for:

🏑 Adopters
🏑 Foster homes
🐾 Experienced handlers willing to help socialise and assess the dogs
🐾 Rescue organisations that may be able to assist
🐾 People willing to share this post and help spread the word

Even if you cannot adopt, a share could help these dogs find the people they need.

If you or your organisation may be able to help, please send us a message.
Every dog deserves a chance.

PLEASE NOTE:
Sketches were created with AI but they come from Real life photos to keep people and location safe. This is a real story with real dogs that are really suffering.

πŸ’”πŸ URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR PRECIOUS πŸπŸ’”

UPDATE: πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

Our little precious passed away yesterday morning 7.08am while in my bed as I lay beside her, whispered and stroked her tiny head until she took her final breath.

We wrapped her in beautiful white cotton cloth and a red chiffon bow and wrote messages to the Angels.

This is her blessing i read as she was being covered πŸ’–

Little Precious,
You arrived with the storm,
but you left surrounded by love.
Though your tiny hooves never had the chance to run,
your little heart touched ours forever.
Run free now, sweet girl,
where the grass is always green,
the sun is always warm,
and every step is light beneath an angel's wings. 🀍🐐

Thank you so very much to everyone that put up their hand to offer help and support.
You guys have been incredible, thank you so very much.
πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

I honestly don't know how much more life can throw at us.

In the weeks since my beautiful daughter Danielle passed away, I have been living in a constant state of loss and crisis.

We have had to move house multiple times, fight for answers regarding Danielle's death, and most recently undertake an emergency relocation of my rescue cats after being given just days to remove them from the property where my rescue is based.

Thanks to the incredible kindness of so many people, we are still in the middle of moving cats to safety.

Then, during the middle of last night's storm, another emergency unfolded.

A goat that had recently arrived at the property gave birth outside in the bush during torrential weather.

This tiny baby girl, now named Precious, was found soaked, freezing cold, and lying alone in the wet grass.
The first photo shows exactly how she was found.
We weren't sure she would survive.

For hours we worked to dry her, warm her, and keep her alive. Against the odds, this little fighter started lifting her head, then trying to sit up, and now she's attempting to stand.

As you can see from the photos, she is incredibly tiny and fragile. We believe she may be premature or underdeveloped and she is still struggling to feed properly.

With everything currently happening, we know Precious needs someone with experience raising vulnerable newborn goat kids who can provide the level of care she deserves.

We are urgently looking for:

🐐 An experienced foster home

🐐 Advice from people experienced with newborn or premature kids

🐐 Shares to help us reach the right person
After everything she has already survived in her first day of life, we want to give Precious every possible chance.

Please share far and wide. Let's help this little girl find the care she needs. ❀️

I am reaching out with a DESPERATE plea for help.

Many of you know my daughter Danielle recently passed away. Since then, I have been navigating unimaginable grief while fighting for a brain autopsy due to her exposure to CJD-contaminated surgical instruments during her 2007 brain surgery.

Today, after a month of battling for answers, I finally received approval for the autopsy.

Tonight, Iv just been told, by the very person that I trusted to be there, all of my rescue cats must be removed within 48 hours or they WILL be forcibly removed.

I am completely OVERWHELMED!

WE URGENTLY NEED:

🐾 Foster homes
🐾 Help trapping cats that are still outside
🐾 Transport assistance
🐾 Safe temporary accommodation for rescue cats
🐾 People willing to share this post

These cats have already been through so much and deserve safety and care. Right now, I am overwhelmed with grief and simply cannot do this alone.

If you can help in any way, please message me urgently!

Please share far and wide. Time is running out, and every share could save a life.

Location now is Far North, Horeke.

A Special Invitation: Danielle’s Soul Graduation

To all who have walked beside Danielle

First Light Ritual 6:30 AM @ Point England Beach Reserve before the world wakes up.

We will gather at the Omaru creek bridge, cycle walkway. As the sun breaks the horizon and the bagpipes play, we will walk to the water’s edge (As Danielle did each morning) and stand together in the salt air for a quiet moment of reflection. We will share a "Breathlock" ritualβ€”a collective breath to hold her memory in our hearts and release her spirit into the light.

Followed by the Formal Memorial Service 2pm @ Old All Saints Selwyn Church, Howick, to share tributes, scripture, and music.

This will be a time to celebrate the extraordinary life Danielle lived and the love she left behind.

Gathering & Refreshments After the service, please join us at The Good Home restaurant to share stories, laughter, and a toast to Danielle.

"I’m not losing you, I’m changing how I hold you."

Hi everyone πŸ’›
I’m really sorry to have to write this, but I need to let you all know what’s happening.
My daughter Danielle is now critically ill, and I need to be fully present with her during this time. Because of this, I won’t be able to be at the rescue or continue things as usual for now.

This has all happened very quickly, and I urgently need help with fostering our pussycats while I go through this transition. If anyone is able to step in, even short-term, it would mean so much and truly help take some pressure off right now as we also have to move next month.

Please reach out if you can help, or even share this post β€” every bit of support counts πŸ’•

Thank you all for your understanding, kindness, and for being part of this rescue family. I appreciate it more than I can say πŸ’›

About time!
13/04/2026

About time!

Italy has taken another significant step in strengthening protections for animals under the law. 🐾 A measure known as the Brambilla Law officially came into force on July 1, 2025, recognizing animals as sentient beings whose welfare is safeguarded by the State. This change means animals are no longer regarded merely as property, and their protection is no longer tied only to an owner’s choices. Under the updated legislation, serious acts that cause an animal’s death can lead to penalties of up to four years in prison as well as fines reaching €60,000. If the crime includes torture or prolonged suffering, the penalties can become even harsher. The law also expands the definition of cruelty and sets stronger consequences for abuse and abandonment. Additional penalties apply when cruelty takes place in front of children, involves multiple animals, or is filmed and shared online. It also makes it possible to hold companies or organizations responsible if they benefit from acts of cruelty toward animals. For many advocates, this reform represents a growing understanding that animals experience pain and fear, and supporters hope it will discourage cruelty while reinforcing the responsibility to treat animals with compassion and care. 🐱🐾
