Hello from the new faces behind Peaceful Paws 🐾

We’re Dr. Shannon Cassidy and Dr. Dearbhla Owens, and we’re honoured to introduce ourselves as the new owners of Peaceful Paws.

Many of you will know and love Molly, the previous owner of Peaceful Paws. We’ve been lucky to work closely alongside her, and while we certainly miss her presence here in Aotearoa, we’re excited for her as she begins a new chapter in Australia.

We officially took over the reins in July and have been quietly continuing the dignified, gracious goodbyes that Peaceful Paws is known for.

As experienced emergency and critical care vets, we’ve seen just how important it is for families to have a gentle, peaceful way to say goodbye to their beloved companions. That’s why we’re so passionate about continuing the heartfelt mission of Peaceful Paws: providing compassionate, in-home euthanasia services.

Our goal is to help make a deeply difficult time a little more bearable - by providing the space and time to say farewell in the comfort of your home; ensuring your pet is safe and comfortable.

We’re here for the pets (and people) of Auckland wide and it’s our privilege to support you during one of life’s most tender moments.

After over 2 and a half years of running Peaceful Paws and being able to offer this wonderful service, it is bittersweet that I announce that it is my time to move on. I am moving to Australia and am leaving Peaceful Paws in the very capable hands of Dr. Derv and Dr. Shannon who have been working alongside me for the last few months.

I have loved being able to provide such a special in home care as the last thing we can give our beloved pets and I am happy to have 2 incredible vets who are just as passionate as I am continuing to provide this care.

Recognizing pain in our beloved pets is not always as easy as it is for our human family members, but this does not make it any less important.

Learning to recognizing ways that our animals may show (or hide) pain is an extremely valuable tool. This is especially important in our pets who are getting older and we may have concerns about their quality of life.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with myself or your pets general practice to discuss end-of-life care and a peaceful in-home euthanasia when the time comes.

Hi everyone. My name is Molly and I am taking over Peaceful Paws now Marcus has gone on his next adventure to Australia.

I have done some volunteer work at Coast Pet Care and Country Retreat Animal Sanctuary but spend most my time as an emergency veterinarian.

In my spare time I like to hang out and going on adventures with my three legged cat Tiny Tim.

I am hoping to continue the amazing work that Marcus has done so far with Peaceful Paws. Bringing owners peace and allowing a relaxed goodbye to a family member in their home is something I am very passionate about.

If anyone has any questions or would just like to talk to someone about their pets health or quality of life, please don’t hesitate to contact me

Hi everyone, it’s with great sadness that I write this post… 😟

I’ll soon be heading to Australia to focus on furthering my career in emergency medicine and critical care. I’d just like to say a huge thank you to the many families who've entrusted Peaceful Paws with the care of their loved ones over the last year. It's been a blessing to be able to help at such a sensitive time! 💙

Peaceful Paws will be having a short service pause over the next 1-2 months but will soon be continued by Dr Molly Leggett. If you need a home euthanasia service in the interim, please contact your regular vet to discuss alternative options in your area.

Best wishes for 2023, and goodbye for now 👋🏾
