At the home track for us tomorrow where we have five of the team lining up at New Plymouth Raceway:

🏇 Race 4: KIT ZAKAT and JASPER who have both been working well, take their place in the 1400m Maiden.

🏇 Race 5: CHARM ZAFARM will be fresh up over 1200m and although she has a horrible draw “Chocco” is fit and well and will improve with the run.

And the last race of the day, Race 8, SUMMER BREEZE and DOJAKATA who are both back from spells, will be using the run as a kick off for their winter preparations but both are well and capable of a cheeky run!

In addition to the racing, a highlight for the stable will be supporting Emily Zuppicich in the Pony Scurry!!

JASPER makes his race day debut for the stable in Race 5 at Wanganui Jockey Club today.

Since joining us, Jasper has pleased in everything he has done and we will be happy to see him there or thereabouts in the finish.

A wee trip to Waverley Racing Club for one of the team today!

Race 1: KIT ZAKAT steps back up to 1400m after a very nice effort last start at Wanganui. Drawn 2 with Jimmy Chung on “KitKat” is a very nice chance to weigh in if the rain comes.

Race 7: SUMMER BREEZE kicks off her winter campaign when she lines up in the R65 1400m. “Lily” is well and while her work has been good, she will take some improvement out of the run. Drawn 9 with Jimmy Chung to ride. (After only getting 3ml rain overnight, Lily has been scratched this morning).

The stable has been pretty busy over the last few weeks with a number of our winter horses almost set to start their campaigns.

CHARM ZAFARM and SUMMER BREEZE are nearing their fresh up runs with SUMMER BREEZE potentially joining KIT ZAKAT at Waverley on 9 May.

Stable newcomer JASPER (Derryn x Lexi) who is a 4 year old gelding, comes to us from up North. Following his recent jump-out win, Jasper will likely head to Wanganui on 10 May.

This time last year the stable was celebrating a dream result with SUMMER BREEZE and SIDE PIECE winning back to back at Waverley, which was followed by the sister-act of CHARM ZAFARM and ZA SPIRIT at New Plymouth just a few weeks later so we are really looking forward to the racing ahead!!

A little trip to The River City for two runners from the stable:

Race 2: KIT ZAKAT who has been handy in both her starts this preparation. The track was too firm last start and we think “Kitkat” will be in the finish with a patient ride.

Race 4: ZACONIC steps up to the 2060m in what will be more of a learning curve for her. Connie’s work has been super since her last start and she looks like she’ll shape up to be a nice stayer in time. Whilst we are using this race to assess her staying prowess before Connie heads to the paddock for a spell to develop more, we were very pleased with her last start 2nd so she will be in the mix!

The one runner in Race 5 at Egmont Racing Club today, ZACONIC lines up in the Grangewilliam Stud 1600m Maiden with Jim Chung aboard.

“Connie’s” last start was pleasing and we hope she can build off that effort and be a bit closer in the finish today.

🏇 ZA SPIRIT lines up in the last race at RACE Trentham, with Toni Davies aboard.

Freddi’s form leading into the race has been good and she is just such an honest mare who we know will give it her all!

Just the one runner at Waverley Racing Club today, Kit Zakat lines up again with Alan Lai aboard.

“Kitkat’s” first run at New Plymouth was very pleasing and her work since has been solid, drawn 2 and if everything goes to plan she should be right with them at the post.

🏇 It’s a family affair for the stable at New Plymouth Raceway tomorrow, with three half-sisters all stepping out to represent the team.

First up in Race 3 is KIT ZAKAT, who despite being small in stature, she’s huge on determination. Kitkat’s only previous start was on a bottomless track which didn't suit, but her recent jumpout form has been fantastic and, with Alan Lai in the saddle, we can’t wait to see what she can do on top of the ground.

Straight after in Race 4, ZACONIC who is the youngest of the trio, has pleased us in every run to date. “Connie” is a big girl who we expect will develop into a lovely stayer - just like her mum ZAFRENZY (pictured below). Guided by Jimmy Chung, we’re hoping Connie will be right there at the finish.

We close the day in Race 7 with big sister and stable favourite, ZA SPIRIT. “Freddi” has drawn barrier 1 with Toni Davies aboard again. If there’s one thing you can count on with Freddi, she always gives it everything and with 3 of her 4 wins being on the home track we have our fingers crossed for another success!

The other two siblings, CHARM ZAFARM and “Petey” will have to sit in the wings and watch from their boxes!
