Today we had a super morning full of gastro scopes - interesting findings and very
well behaved horses.

A big shout out to Liz and Dave from Woodford Horse Care for use of their awesome facilities and of course John from Randlab for coming down to see us. Thanks to Leah our wonderful
equine nurse who ensures our patients are comfortable and safely restrained.

Nothing like passing by a mate on horse back after a morning full of castrates . Only to sneak a quick ride with my littlest junior vet assistant. Great to see this special horse back in the Wairarapa !

🐴🍁🐴GASTROSCOPE CLINIC 4th June🍁🐴


Book your horse/pony/donkey in for a gastroscope.

A scope allows visualisation of Gastric Ulcers (EGUS) in the main stomach (squamous vs. glandular) and in the pylorus. The location of ulcers dictates the type and duration of treatment.

A gastroscope is required to create a cost effective treatment plan.

🍁🐴 A few common Indications 🍁🐴 :

- poor performance
- behavioural changes
- mild/recurrent colic episodes
- slow weight gain
- recent stressors such as travel/ increased work load
- restricted diets such as laminitic patients and those on box rest for musculoskeletal issues
