Today is the day but fireworks will continue through to the weekend and beyond
As fireworks light up the sky, please remember our furry friends might not enjoy the show as much as we do! 🐶🐱

💡 Tips to help keep pets calm and safe tonight:
• If your pet gets anxious, talk to our team about calming options well before the big night
• Keep them indoors with windows and curtains closed.
• Play soft music or TV to help mask loud noises. RNZ Concert and SPCA New Zealand collaborated on a "Concert for Animals" for Guy Fawkes Night
• Make sure they have a safe, cozy space to hide if needed.
• Check that their microchip and ID tags are up to date — just in case they get scared and run off.
• Walk dogs before dark to avoid sudden scares.
Let’s make sure everyone has a safe and happy night — pets included! 💙

As we head into Guy Fawkes season, remember that fireworks might be fun for some us — but they can be frightening for our furry friends. 🐾

Here are some tips to help keep your pets calm and safe:
📅 Plan ahead – If your pet gets anxious, talk to our team about calming options well before the big night
🐶 Keep them indoors – Close windows, curtains, and doors to help muffle loud noises.
🎶 Create background noise – Turn on the TV or some soothing music to help mask fireworks.
🏠 Provide a safe space – Set up a quiet, comfy spot where your pet can hide and feel secure.
💡 Stay calm yourself – Pets pick up on our emotions. Keeping relaxed helps reassure them.
🔖 Check their microchip – Make sure your pet’s microchip and registration details are up to date. If they get out, it’ll be much easier to reunite them with their family

Let’s make sure everyone — people and pets alike — has a safe and happy Guy Fawkes season! 💚✨

🎃👻 Happy Howl-oween from the team at PAWsome Vets! 👻🎃

It’s that spooktacular time of year when treats are tasty, costumes are creepy, and our furry friends might be wondering what on earth is going on! 🐾

Here are a few tips to keep your pets safe (and less spooked) tonight:
🕸️ Keep chocolate and lollies well out of reach — they’re a trick, not a treat, for pets!
🦇 Make sure if you are dressing up your pet that the costumes are comfy and don’t restrict movement, sight, or breathing.
🎃 If you’re expecting trick-or-treaters, pop your pets in a quiet room so the doorbell doesn’t drive them batty!
🐶 Light up the night — reflective collars or glow sticks keep pets visible and safe.

Have a fang-tastic night full of fun, laughter, and maybe a few wagging tails! 🧡

📸 We’d love to see your pets’ Halloween looks — share your photos in the comments below! 👇🐕🐈‍⬛

🎃 Halloween Safety Tips for Pets! 👻
Spooky season is here — but all those door knocks, costumes, and treats can be a little scary for our furry friends! 🐾
Here are a few simple ways to help keep them safe and happy this Halloween:
📅 Plan ahead – If your pet gets anxious, talk to our team about calming options well before the spooky night
🚪 Keep pets inside – With trick-or-treaters coming to the door, it’s easy for pets to slip out.
🎭 Watch the costumes – Masks and strange outfits can confuse or frighten animals.
🍫 Keep human treats away – Chocolate and many lollies are toxic to pets.
🏠 Create a quiet space – Set up a calm, comfy area away from the front door.
A little preparation goes a long way toward making Halloween fun (and safe!) for everyone — people and pets alike. 💚🐶🐱

🎉 Yay, it’s Friday! 🎉
This week we have the lovely Lucy modelling the inflatable collar — the comfy alternative to the traditional Elizabethan collar (cone of shame). 💙

Lucy finds it much easier to snooze, snack, and snuggle in — all while keeping her surgery site safe and healing nicely. 🐾💤

Don’t worry, Lucy — you’re totally rocking that watermelon look! 🍉😍
