🚨 Please Keep an Eye Out – Stolen Vehicle 🚨

We are unfortunately reaching out to our local community for some help following an upsetting incident that occurred at PAWsome Vets today.

One of our lovely clients, a retired lady who was visiting us for an appointment, had her car stolen from our carpark while she was inside the clinic. 💔

This is incredibly upsetting, particularly given how vulnerable and shaken she has been left feeling. We would really appreciate it if our local community could keep an eye out for the vehicle and share this post to help us spread the word.

🚗 Vehicle: Burnt orange/red Kia Seltos number plate ending in 277

We will be adding photos of the suspect to this post. If you recognise the person or have seen the vehicle, particularly around the Levin/Palmerston North area, please contact Police and provide any relevant information.

Please do not approach or confront anyone you believe may be involved. Your safety comes first.

If you have any information that could help our lovely client, we would be incredibly grateful if you could pass it on.

Thank you so much to our wonderful community for looking out for one another.

Did you know your pet’s microchip needs to be registered to help bring them home? 🐾

A microchip is only the first step. If your pet’s chip isn’t registered, or your contact details aren’t up to date, it can make it much harder to reunite you if they ever go missing.

The New Zealand Companion Animal Register (NZCAR) is New Zealand’s national companion animal microchip register. It links your pet’s microchip number with your contact details, helping vets, councils, shelters and other authorised users identify lost pets and reconnect them with their families.

Whether you have a new puppy or kitten, or your pet has been part of your family for years, it’s worth checking their details are correct.

✅ Register your pet’s microchip
✅ Update your contact details if you move or change phone numbers
✅ Check your pet’s details today

Because every pet deserves a way home. 💙

Happy Feel Good Friday! 💙🐾

Some patients just know how to make themselves comfortable! This handsome Rottweiler decided the chair in our consult room was the perfect place to sit, and we couldn't resist snapping a photo. 🪑🐶

It's moments like these that make us smile and remind us why we love what we do.

We hope this sweet face brightens your Friday as much as it brightened ours. Have a wonderful weekend! 💕

🦆 Duck Shooting Season is Here — Is Your Pet Prepared?

Hey Pawsome family 🐾

With duck shooting season kicking off this weekend (2nd May), those early morning gunshots can be really unsettling for our furry friends. What’s a tradition for some can be a stressful time for pets — especially dogs and cats who are sensitive to loud, sudden noises.

Signs your pet might be anxious:
• Shaking or trembling
• Hiding or trying to escape
• Excessive barking or meowing
• Pacing or restlessness
• Loss of appetite

How you can help:
• Keep them indoors during peak shooting times (6:30am – 6:30pm, especially early mornings and evenings)
• Create a safe, quiet space with their bed, toys, and something that smells like you
• Close curtains and windows to help muffle the noise
• Play calming music or white noise to help mask outside sounds
• Stay calm — pets pick up on your energy
• Consider anxiety aids like calming treats, pheromone diffusers, or vet-prescribed options if needed
• Make sure your pet is microchipped and details are up to date, just in case they get frightened and escape

If your pet really struggles during this time, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team — we’re here to help keep them as calm and comfortable as possible 💙

Give your pets a little extra love and reassurance — they’ll appreciate it more than you know 🐶🐱
