Well winter has well and truely arrived now!

Thankfully not as bad as last years down pour but still bad enough 🌧️

Not that it will worry me for long as tomorrow we jump on the plane and set off for South Africa! While it’s winter over there as well I highly doubt it will be as bad as here, might even be T-shirt weather ☀️

Looking forward to getting away and doing something completely out of my comfort zone! Will be an experience for sure, I’m hoping I get to see a few zebras and other wild animals.

See you all when I get back! Fingers crossed there’s some sunshine for me to come home to 🤞

I’m back!!! 🤗🤗

2 weeks since my surgery and I’m back in the cart, have been slowly easing myself back into work over the last few days and finally felt good enough to drive the best wee girl, Emma of course. Not quite ready for Lily yet 😅 but won’t be long and I’ll be at 💯 again.

Things will be a bit hectic over the next 3 weeks as I try to play catch up before jumping on a plane and heading all the way to South Africa for 10days!! Very excited about that, especially now I’ve had surgery and don’t have that hanging over my head.

Once we are home it will be full steam ahead as we start saying goodbye to winter and hello to spring 🌼 which means I finally get to meet Lizzie’s baby, very exciting times ahead!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been debating with myself about sharing what’s been going on but as we all know this industry is rife with rumours so thought better to just clarify even if it is a bit embarrassing! 😳

I had surgery last week to try and sort out an abscess and fistula in my butt area (told you, embarrassing) thought to have been caused by Chrons diesase, which I have to have further tests for confirm. I’ve been dealing with this since November last year and it definitely hasn’t been a walk in the park, but as most of us in the horse industry do we just deal with the pain and soldier on, unfortunately last week I couldn’t just do that which is probably just as well as if left untreated the abscess can become sepsis and I’m sure we all know how bad that can be ☠️.

So now unfortunately I’m laid up on the couch for an unknown amount of time to try and heal, I had big plans to be back in action this week but as I still can’t sit for long periods of time I think those plans have been quietly destroyed.
And yes I’m feeling extremely guilty about the mountain of work that isn’t being done, horses that aren’t being worked and weanlings that are halfway through their education.
I don’t have a team of staff to pick up the slack when I’m not able to, I do however have great parents and a few lovely ladies that graze their horses at my place so thanks to them Emma and Lily are still being jogged and everyone is being fed but as for the rest of the horses, feel free to send me an offer to take some off my hands 😅.

Hopefully I’ll be back out there very soon, only so much tv one can watch!

If you stuck around to read all of this then thank you, and thank you to everyone who has offered me support and help already, you know who you are!

A month since my last post 🫢 whoops!

Times flies when you’re having fun right 😅 I guess you’d call it fun haha.

Haven’t even introduced the first two babies to be weaned and they’re almost finished!

Two of my own to start things off, Sutton is a c**t by Ride High out of Miranda Maguire, bit of a cheeky wee thing but coming to it nicely now.

And miss independent is Hazel, a filly by Waterloo Sunset out of The Last Gamble, she has been super friendly out in the paddock, coming up for pats etc but once I started asking the questions she showed her attitude 😅 got to love a filly with an attitude right!

The next two are due to come in this weekend, a Betters Creek c**t and a Carlton c**t.
Introductions to come 🤗

She’s back!!

Emma has made her return to the track after a freshen up, she’s looking and feeling great.

Had a quiet run at the trials yesterday and now lining up on Sunday at Motukarara.
Massive fields and starting off the unruly isn’t a help but as long as she does everything right I’ll be happy 😊

Also couldn’t be without travel mate Moose, he’s a vital part of the team 💙

One of my young ones is really impressing me with her attitude at the moment, fast becoming a stable favourite with her easy going nature in the cart. 3 yr old Creatine filly, 2nd time back in the cart after a big break and she just jogs around like an old hand, fingers crossed she keeps this up!

Mares and foals were pretty happy to move into a new paddock before the rain that came today.

Fresh grass and sunshine ☀️ what more could they want ☺️

Time sure does fly! Hard to believe we’re nearly halfway through the first month of 2026!!

Things are ridiculously busy around here, if anyone wants to take some horses off my hands please feel free 🫢 (not joking 🙃).

The foals from this season are all growing nicely and are a super looking bunch, of course the standouts for me are my own two, specifically the Ride High c**t, photos really don’t do him justice!

Snapped some updated pics of them all this week while their mums got their feet done.

Enjoy!

Things are pretty quiet around here since Lily’s accident, Emma is also have a wee mental refresher.

My plan was to get cracking on some of my young ones while I had a wee bit of spare time, but as we know with horses it doesn’t always go to plan!

Last Tuesday while putting shoes on a young horse he cow kicked me in the head 🫢
Thankfully I am fine, no blood just a giant egg head and now a lovely black eye.
It did however affect me more than I thought and after working the mornings I have been exhausted 😴
Slowly getting back to normal now thankfully, starting to feel like myself again.

It does make you think how quickly life can change and in a split second everything could be completely different, I came out of this pretty ok but for some people they aren’t so lucky.

I hope everyone enjoys the few weeks left of 2025, for me it has been a very good year (apart from the last couple of weeks 🤫).

Pictured are my two beautiful coloured boys who are growing up to be very handsome indeed! 💙

Unfortunately with the highs of racing come the lows of racing.

5 days after celebrating Poison Ivy (silly Lily) winning at Methven we had to deal with something none of us want to, a race fall.

Lily was back to her usual silly self and overraced, unfortunately hitting the wheel in front of her and falling to the track, if that wasn’t bad enough she then took off driverless, somehow thought she saw a way home and ended up running face first into the tin fence behind the water cart.

Thankfully her injuries weren’t life threatening but she still ended up with a broken nose which means time out in the paddock.
I’m pleased to say both drivers involved weren’t seriously hurt so that’s a positive.

It’s never nice witnessing a crash in the races and even worse when it’s your own horse involved, for all her silliness she’s still one of my own and does mean a bit to me.

Her physical wounds will heal but only time will tell if the crash was mentally traumatic for her, fingers crossed she will be back on the track again 🤞💙
