Hello!! 👋🏻

It’s been a looooong time since I’ve posted here. 🙈 Apologies! There’s not a whole lot to post about between litters, and life is BUSY 😩 - but I do need to try to post more normal day-to-day dog content. So here’s little Reggie at the dog park! He’s six months old today! 🤩 He’s a looong, tall, lanky boy. If I drew him, he’d be a stick figure (which is pretty much the extent of my drawing skills anyway 😆).

Our last litter (from Bonnie and Rupert) also reached the six month milestone a few weeks ago! 😍

Speaking of Bonnie and Rupert….with any luck we’ll be celebrating the arrival of their second litter within the next couple of months!!🤞 I will keep you posted! 🤩

I need to let you know, I have been fielding a LOT of enquiries about puppies since the start of the year. It’s a HUGE compliment and I’m grateful! 🥹 But, unfortunately, I am also a very small breeder, and this does mean that if you were hoping for a puppy this year and have not yet been in touch with me, you are probably going to be disappointed. 😣

This year is definitely going to be a quiet one, puppy-wise, but if everything goes to plan, we could have three litters in 2027. (I will write more about expected future litters another time.) If you are thinking you’d like to get a Daisy & Ted puppy in the next year or two, I would suggest you get in touch much sooner than you think you need to. We do have an active waitlist, that I am continuing to add people to, and I will make sure you understand how long the wait might be. Please note, the only way to absolutely guarantee you will get a puppy is to sign a contract and put down a deposit, but even without paying a deposit, just being on the waitlist is risk-free and will give you an advantage. 😊

(P.S. Families of Bonnie and Rupert’s last litter - I would LOOVE you to send me recent photos of your puppies that you’re happy for me to share, so that we can show everybody what they look like now! 😃🥰)

Happy first birthday to the gorgeous PIPPA!! 😍🥳

Pippa stayed with us recently, and she and Reggie ADORED each other - they played NON-STOP. (Poor little Reggie is constantly trying to get the older dogs here to play with him, so he was thrilled to bits to have someone willing to do it almost 24/7! 😜)

Here they are in a rare moment of sitting still! 😄🥰

Reggie is finally fully vaccinated and allowed to come out on walks with the big dogs! To say he is ecstatic about this is an understatement!! 😂😂 He’s LOVING it. Today he squeaked with excitement for the first ten minutes. 😆
He’s also weighing in at 3kgs, which means he has tripled in size since we got him! 😅🥰

PUTTING A WEE PAUSE ON THIS ONE!!!
Thank you - I am getting so many messages already! 😅 it is possible we may have already found the most unbelievably amazing home for Tilly. 🥹🙏 I will keep you posted! 😁🥰

—————————————————————————

You know how life’s just ticking along and you think “wouldn’t it be great to add a dog to our family?” and you do your research and don’t rush into it, and eventually you get your puppy, and you LOVE your puppy and invest a whole heap of time, money, and energy into her, and then 💥 BOOM 💥 - out of nowhere life smacks you in the face with a massive curveball or four?? Well, unfortunately this has happened to one of our families. 😞 One of our puppies from Daisy and Mossy’s litter last year has a family going through an INCREDIBLY hard time, and with everything they are dealing with, a puppy is just too much. They’ve come to the realisation that they need to find a new home for their wee girl. 🫶 (There can be a LOT of vitriol online when people are rehoming dogs, and I KNOW that won’t happen in this wee community, but I do want to make it very clear that I fully support this family - it has been a hard decision, but it is absolutely the right one.)

So, let’s find Tilly a new home! ☺️

Some things you need to know…
Tilly is 8 months old, and currently weighs under 4 kgs. She’s not fully grown yet, but she’s much smaller than her mother was at this age, so I suspect she might stay under 5kgs even when fully grown. She is super cute and smart, and knows several commands. HOWEVER, with everything going on, she has become very anxious, which has led to some behavioural problems - particularly being very reactive (as in barking a lot and struggling to relax, not being aggressive or dangerous at all). She needs to go to a stable and predictable home, with someone who is willing to take on a puppy that probably needs to go right back to basics with training and building her confidence up again - meaning it is going to take a fair amount of time and patience and possibly a bit of money for some professional training. The kind of training required won’t be too dissimilar to what you would do if you took home an 8-week-old puppy, but might be a bit more challenging now that this level of anxiety has set in. I am 100% certain she can do very, very well in the right hands.

Please note, Tilly will not be free, but will be a heck of a lot cheaper than starting from scratch with a puppy, as she has had all her puppy vaccinations and been spayed, and comes with a LOT of equipment and accessories (crate, toys, grooming equipment, the list goes on!). She is toilet trained, she sleeps through the night, and she has lost all her sharp little puppy teeth (these are some of the most stressful parts of having a tiny baby pup!). She’s got a headstart on teeny baby puppies in a lot of great ways, but there are some things that need to be worked on.

If you’re interested in adopting Tilly, please get in touch and we’ll have a chat to see if your home/life might be a good fit for her. I need to know she is going to someone with the skills and time to help her live her best life, so be prepared that I will be asking you a lot of questions around that. She is currently based in Christchurch. 🩷

Happy New Year! 🎉 Hope it’s off to a great start! 😁

I’m getting quite a few emails and messages, so wanted to update you on what’s going to be happening at Daisy & Ted in 2026. 😊 (Warning: long post ahead, and not very interesting if you are definitely not in the market for a puppy! 😅)

First, I’m sorry to tell you that we will not be having any puppies in the next few months. I started out as a VERY small breeder, only intending to do one or two litters a year on top of my actual (full time) job, so I only have two breeding females at a time: currently Bonnie and Pippa, and Pippa is still too young to start breeding.

HOWEVER, over the last couple of years I have been seriously reevaluating what I want my life to look like, and am making some big changes. I’m really cutting back on my work outside of home this year so that I have time to pursue some different things, and also have a lot more time for the dogs - both my own pets and the larger breeding programme. I have mentioned a few times that I am keen to build this up a wee bit more. This means having more than two females, so I intend to buy in another one at some point soonish, and now that I have a second stud dog I can also keep some from my own litters going forward. I will be looking for guardians for these. I already have two families lined up, which is exciting! So I’m not yet sure if I will need any more than that for 2026, but who knows! 🤷‍♀️ If being a puppy guardian is something that would interest you and you would like to be considered, please read all the info on my website, have a think about it, and then get in touch and we’ll have a chat. 😊

In terms of puppies we’re expecting this year…
All going to plan we will definitely have a second litter from Bonnie (cocker spaniel) and Rupert (spoodle, mostly poodle). You can get a good idea of what they will look like by having a look at the photos from the most recent litter, and I will be sure to post updates from their families as they grow bigger. They’ll definitely be on the caramel-apricot-red colour spectrum, with a reasonably straight or slightly wavy coat, and should be around 10-12kgs fully grown, and stand about knee-height. It is very difficult to know when this will be, as Bonnie’s cycle has been a bit unpredictable! But I am sort of expecting winter puppies - definitely no earlier than May. I should mention that two of these puppies are already spoken for.

After that, our next litter will (hopefully 🤞) be from Pippa (chocolate poodle). Again, I cannot predict when this will be, it will all depend on Pippa’s cycle. I’m hoping late 2026, but it may not be until 2027. I’ll probably mate her with Rupert this time around (although Reggie will also be an option by late 2026), and we will be expecting a range of colours - could be black, chocolate, or red! 😍 These ones will be a lot curlier than Bonnie’s babies, but likely a similar size. (Unless I use Reggie, in which case they’ll be much smaller!) Very vague details on this one at the moment, sorry! 😅

So, now you know as much as I know! 😄 Short version = no puppies for at least 5 months. I do give advance notice of pregnancy/birth to anybody who has expressed interest so that they get a headstart in making decisions, but PLEASE do read my website before contacting me - I can guarantee 99% of what you want to know is answered there. 😊

A very late Merry Christmas from all of us here at Daisy and Ted! And once again I failed to get a Christmas family photo! 🙈 Maybe next December will be less busy.🤞😅

I do have a picture of Blossom finally in her new owner’s arms though! 😁 As we expected, she was a VERY wonderful Christmas surprise!!! She is settling into her new home very well, and her name is now Honey! 😍🥰

I do hope all of you (and your dogs) have had a lovely few days with your family and friends, and fingers crossed we’ll get some summer weather soon! 🤞

Lucky last little Blossom was picked up today - although 🤫🤐 because she is being kept hidden by close family until Christmas!! 😍🥰 I LOVE surprises like this!! 🤩 (Please don’t worry about the whole “getting a puppy for Christmas” thing - it is a dog-loving family, and we do know for sure that this person really wants a puppy!)

I said “little” Blossom, but she’s a big girl!! Weighing in at 4.5kgs now - she’s almost the size of her wee nana Daisy already! 😆

Here’s some pics of her in her last couple of days here. Reggie is going to miss his wee buddy - it has been great having another puppy here for him to play with!
Have a WONDERFUL life, Blossom, and I hope we see you again some day! 🌸

Introducing the newest member of the Daisy and Ted family: meet Reginald P. Smallsworth! 🥰

Reggie is a toy poodle, currently weighing in at just a smidge over 1kg, bless him! He’ll be our tiniest dog to date when fully grown. I’ve had to alter the colour a little in this photo so you can see his face, as he is very black. 😆 (He doesn’t have any white on his chest, that’s just his skin!). He may still fade as he grows, which is very common in poodles, so we shall just have to wait and see how he turns out. He’s settling in alright here and holding his own amongst the big kids! 😁

High time for a pupdate! 😄

Four puppies have well and truly settled into their forever homes and their families are besotted! 🥰 You’ll have to open up the photos to find out what their new names are. 😁

Blossom is still with us for another couple of weeks, because she is going to be one lucky family’s Christmas present! 😉😍

Another puppy has joined her excited new family today!!! 🤩

Little Sweet Pea - the teeny tiny pup I fretted over and bottle fed for the first two weeks of her life - is now called Coco, and has moved to Gore! 😁

Here she is a few days ago with her Dad (Rupert, middle) and Nana (Daisy, left). 🥹🥹🥹
