It's that time of the year again when calving is in full swing and the use of milk powder is high.

Just a safety reminder to all pet owners of the importance to keep coccidiostat based milk replacers and calf meal out of reach from your pets as they may become very ill if ingested.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Spring Skills & Calf Rearing Seminar here at Braided River Vets. It was fantastic to see such a great turnout and so many people eager to learn, ask questions, and prepare for the busy spring season ahead.

We covered a range of topics with the morning session focusing on down cows metabolics, basic technical skills, calvings and common spring problems that can occur, while the afternoon was spent learning about best practices for calf rearing including feeding, colostrum management, and common signs of ill thrift and best treatment options.

A special thank you also goes to our Vets and sponsors for their generous time, support, informative presentations, and fantastic giveaways. Your knowledge and contribution helped make this event a great success.

We appreciate everyone who took the time to attend and hope you found the seminar informative, practical, and valuable as you head into the busy calving period.

Braided River Vets – Casual Vet Technicians Required

Braided River Vets is seeking enthusiastic Casual Vet Technicians to join our 2026 Disbud Team.

This is a temporary seasonal position, working Monday to Friday from late July through to the end of September 2026.

We are looking for people who:

· Have previous veterinary technician experience (preferred but not essential)

· Previous experience working with farm animals is essential

· Are reliable, hardworking, and able to work as part of a team

· Have excellent communication and animal handling skills

· Are willing to learn and take direction

· Have a great sense of humour and enjoy working in a fun team environment
