🚨 WARNING: FALSE ADVERTISING AT SPCA TIMARU! 🚨

Meet Chaos.

When this handsome lad first arrived at our centre, his name was 100% accurate. We’re pretty sure he was part Tasmanian Devil, part professional-grade hurricane.

Fast forward 147 days (yes, you read that right, ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN DAYS 😱), we need to have a serious chat with the manager about a name change. Because the name Chaos, certainly is no longer the best fit for this beautiful boy!

While the rest of us have aged about five years waiting for his forever family to show up, Chaos has used his time wisely. He has transformed into a distinguished, refined gentleman. His manners are improving by the day, he is ridiculously eager to please his humans, and he is dangerously close to being handed the keys to the SPCA Timaru reception desk as a permanent resident. We love him, but surely he deserves a couch of his own by now?!

So, what is the new Chaos all about? Let us break it down for you:

🚗 Adventure Ready: He LOVES car rides. Destination? The beach or the river, where he can live his best life. 👃 Professional Nose-ologist: Give him a trail, and he will investigate everything. Bonus points if it’s something he can proudly carry around in his mouth. 🧸 Toy Destroyer (Affectionate): He is a master of the "chase, shake, conquer" toy routine, followed immediately by the "gentle soul snuggling beside you for a good chew" routine. 💛 Ultimate Loyal Bestie: Once Chaos bonds with his people, he is your shadow. He has a zest for life, a massive personality, and enough goofy charm to keep you laughing every single day.

Now, let’s talk about his quirks (because nobody’s perfect): Chaos can occasionally be a little unsure of new things. He’s looking for a human hero who can offer patient guidance, reassurance, and help him build his confidence at his own pace. He’s also not a massive fan of other dogs barking at him (understandable, rude!), so his new family will need to keep up the positive, calm training we’ve been working on—which he is already crushing it at, by the way!

He’s waited 147 days. Let’s not let it become 148.
👇 Think you can handle the "Goodest and least chaotic Boy in Timaru"? Drop us a message, share this post to get him seen, or apply to below meet Chaos! 🐾✨

🩸🐶 Could your dog be a lifesaver?

The Pet Blood Bank is looking for more canine blood donors in Christchurch, and your dog could help save another dog’s life.

The Pet Blood Bank provides blood products for dogs who need transfusions following serious injury, illness or surgery. Its donor programme has ethics approval and follows strict best-practice guidelines for the care and welfare of donor dogs.

Could your dog be eligible? They need to meet the following criteria:
🐾 Over 1 year old, and under 7 years old
🐾 At least 25 kg
🐾 Receives regular vaccinations and vet checks
🐾 Has no medical conditions and not taking any medication
🐾 Friendly and happy to be handled
🐾 Never received a blood transfusion
🐾 Never travelled out of NZ

Donors don't need to be a particular breed. If your dog meets the criteria, they could become one of the generous dogs helping others when they need it most.

Find out more about becoming a canine blood donor by emailing 👉 [email protected]

One dog’s donation could help save two dog’s lives 🐾🩸

Please share with your dog-loving friends and whānau. The Pet Blood Bank is looking for new Christchurch donors!

💔 575 DAYS. 3 CENTRES. 1 DOG STILL WAITING. 💔

Meet Arthur. ❤️

Arthur has been waiting for his forever home for 575 days.

That’s 575 days of watching other dogs come and go.
575 days of hoping “maybe today will be my day.”
And after being moved between three different SPCA centres, he still hasn’t found the person who sees just how special he is.

And honestly… we think it’s time to change that. 🥺

🎾 BALL? DID SOMEONE SAY BALL?! 🎾

Arthur is a goofy, energetic, fun-loving boy who is absolutely OBSESSED with playing fetch. He has an incredible nose for finding tennis balls and will happily bring them back to you… ready for you to throw them again.

And again.

And again.

Because apparently one throw is never enough! 😂

Arthur also firmly believes he is actually a Labrador in disguise. He loves carrying things around, playing with car tyres and getting involved in whatever fun is happening.

He's a big, strong boy with plenty of energy, so he's looking for an active and confident family who can give him the exercise, enrichment and guidance he needs. He's also a curious fellow who thinks pretty much everything might be a snack, so he'll need a family who can keep a close eye on him!

But once the zoomies are over? Arthur is more than happy to trade his ball for some serious cuddle time. ❤️

He'll need:
🐾 An active home
🐾 Someone confident managing a strong, energetic dog
🐾 Plenty of exercise, enrichment and games
🐾 A cat-free home
🐾 A special diet to help manage his skin condition

Arthur isn't looking for a perfect home.

He's looking for his home.

After 575 days, three centres and countless tennis balls, surely his person is out there somewhere. 🥹🎾

If you've been waiting for a goofy, loyal, energetic best mate who will keep you laughing, keep you active and then happily curl up beside you after a big day…

Arthur could be your guy. ❤️

Please share this post. His forever family might be just one share away.

Let's get this ball rolling, Arthur. 🎾❤️

Canterbury, can you make a pet food donation to help hungry animals in your community?

At SPCA we try to help as many families as possible who may be struggling with the cost of feeding their pets. We know times are tough right now, and we’re seeing a greater need for our SPCA Community Pet Pantry.

Any donations of unopened tinned, pouched, or dry pet food are greatly appreciated. You can drop these either in the SPCA Pet Pantry donation bins at many local supermarkets, or to our Christchurch SPCA Centre located at 14 Wilmers Road.

Our Inspectors can use these when responding to animal welfare emergencies, or give these out to help keep pets with their owners during times of unexpected financial hardship. We know that animals are ultimately better off when they get to remain in a home environment, compared to coming into a shelter - so we do all that we can to keep pets with their loving families during difficult times.

On behalf of the animals, thank you for your support!
