Product Update for Victorian Customers

Effective 28 May 2025, the Victorian Government has banned the retail sale of machetes, including long-bladed knives over 20cm.

Two Shoof products are affected:
Cane Knife – Long Handle
Cane Knife – Short Handle

These items are no longer available for sale in Victoria through ShoofDirect or any local retailers.
Customers in other states are not affected and can continue to purchase as normal.

This change follows new safety legislation. From 1 September 2025, these knives will also become prohibited weapons in VIC.

Our Story

Shoof International Ltd is a developer, manufacturer, importer, exporter and marketer of veterinary and animal breeding equipment.

Shoof Head Office is in New Zealand, with wholly-owned subsidiary companies in Melbourne, Australia, and Osorno, Chile. Shoof was founded in 1973, in New Zealand, by current owners Geoff and Bev Laurent, to manufacture articles of milking and breeding equipment that Geoff wanted on their farm.

The business extended into importing and marketing a very wide range of associated veterinary equipment. This now comprises around 5,000 different products from all parts of the world - represented in the company's separate catalogues.

Since the company’s founding in 1973, we have grown into a global innovation-led company. Sourced from reputable suppliers or developed by our own engineers, our products are sold around the world.
