Toby knows how to melt a heart.

Toby and his awesome mum had their first session with me, focusing on his reactivity around other dogs.

Toby has come from living on a farm up north, where he had very little exposure to other dogs, and is now living in a suburban environment. Because of this, he hasn’t had many opportunities to experience other dogs in a positive and controlled way.

Using a long line during our session gave Toby the space and freedom to move away when he felt overwhelmed, rather than feeling like he had to react. This allowed him to practise regulating himself and making better choices, which he did amazingly well. It also helped him feel more comfortable engaging and working with me.

He made incredible progress in just our first session, and it was great to see him already starting to build confidence and learn that he has other options when he feels unsure.

We also covered enrichment and activities that will suit Toby’s terrier/working-breed makeup, giving him appropriate outlets for his energy and instincts both at home and during fun outings. 🙌

How could you not fall in love with this stunning girl?

She comes from working lines, so she has an incredible amount of drive, energy and work ethic. But with that drive comes the need for plenty of training, structure and opportunities to meet both her physical and mental needs.

Her owners are incredible and are already doing so much with her. She has come to me to work on her lead frustration around other dogs and to help her learn how to navigate the world around her with more calmness and control.

She has gone from living on a farm to living next to every man and his dog, which is a huge adjustment for any dog, particularly one whose genetics are designed to work for long periods, remain alert and constantly engage with her environment.

We’re working on impulse control, engagement, recall away from other dogs and lead manners, while also making sure we give her appropriate outlets for that incredible drive.

We’re incorporating fun activities such as scent work, where she searches for her ball or treats around the property or in quiet public spaces. These activities allow her to use her brain, work with her natural instincts and, most importantly, have fun.

I’m so excited to work with this girl. I have a very special love for this breed, and I absolutely love working with high-drive dogs. When you understand what they need and give them the right outlets, they have so much to offer.

First session with these two gorgeous girls. Typical staffies whose emotions are big but so are their tummies, so working hard to earn the treats is a win for them. For most owners walking multiple dogs from one home can be challenging especially when dogs have different feelings about what triggers them and what needs they have. I understand this struggle personally also owning two dogs who have different needs. Lucky they have an awesome family devoted to giving them both what training and outlets they need 😊 can’t wait to see them again!

Success this morning with training lucky around his new friends. The sweet boy gets a bit stressed in the car so we did work around that this morning and then decompression before he was allowed to join the girls. We are working on manners and giving the girls space when they show signs they want it. We had 3 extremely tired dogs by the end of this training/ socialising session.

Kara waiting nicely for her next treat 😘 her training has been going awesome. She’s now disengaging from other dogs she sees out, she is a lot calmer over all as a dog now and is learning to just go for a relaxed walk and enjoy cruising.
