Our weight loss hero.....whose name is 'Motu' (means fatty in an endearing way) of Kamala Rai.
We were very proud to see him and his fine figure...he is back to his perfect weight.
And the secret to his weight loss was.....lots and lots of vegetables in his diet.

Although only 2.2% of unspayed cats are reported to get PYOMETRA (infection of the uterus), it is still a very serious illness that we need to be aware of in our cats. As poor 'Simba' knows.
Signs are vaginal discharge (not always), tiredness, reduced appetite, increased thrist and urination, and others.
Cats that receive hormone injections are at a higher risk of getting this infection.
The only treatment is surgery. Information is the key, inform yourself about your cats health issues. 😉🗝️ 🗝️🗝️🐈‍⬛💞 Let's keep our cats healthy and happy.

As the weather is warming up, the risk of maggots infecting wounds is here again. This is poor 'Leo', who had a nasty wound on his face, we had to sedate him to remove all the maggots (that you see in the bowl), and flush out his wound. After some painkillers and antibiotics he should be back to normal again.

Best Friends Veterinary Hospital was founded by Head Veterinarian Dr Michelle Connolly in 2018.

Dr Michelle Connolly is a well-respected veterinarian who has been practising veterinary medicine for over 15 years. She studied at University College Dublin School of Veterinary Medicine in Ireland and has worked across Africa and Asia teaching veterinary students and treating animals in need.
