On May 20, IVSA Paklihawa successfully conducted Session II of the “Egg to Larva” Parasitology Workshop where participants engaged in microscopic examination and interpretation of nematode larvae cultured during Session I. The larvae were successfully identified as Haemonchus spp., based on their distinct morphological features.

Key Observations:
• Bullet-shaped head
• Medium tail sheath extension
• Distinct interstitial cells
• L3 filariform larvae stage

Apart from that, our participants also identified Rhabditiform larvae under the microscope, enhancing their ability to distinguish between larval stages.

A remarkable finding during the session was the observation of eggs inside larvae, indicative of Strongyloides papillosus—a unique feature that further enriched the learning experience.

This hands-on session strengthened the diagnostic skills of future veterinarians and highlighted the importance of parasite identification for effective treatment and control strategies in the field.

On the auspicious occasion of World Bee Day, we honor the vital role of bees and other pollinators in sustaining biodiversity, food security, and ecosystem health. These tiny yet mighty creatures are indispensable to agriculture and our global environment, contributing to the pollination of over 75% of the world’s food crops. Let us commit to protecting their habitats, promoting sustainable farming practices, and raising awareness about the threats they face—from climate change to pesticide exposure. Every effort counts in ensuring a future where both bees and humanity can thrive together.

On May 4, IVSA Paklihawa successfully conducted the First Session of the “Egg to Larva” Parasitology Workshop, where several participants collected nematodal eggs from f***l samples and applied different larval culture techniques such as the Baermann Funnel Technique, Filter Paper Technique, and F***l Culture Method. These techniques were used to culture the eggs and promote their development into infective L3 larvae.

Now, as we move into Session II, it's time to examine and interpret the larvae under the microscope—identifying key morphological features that help distinguish different parasitic species. This step is crucial for accurate diagnosis and targeted deworming strategies in the field.

This workshop serves as a hands-on learning opportunity to enhance diagnostic skills in parasitology and strengthen the foundation of future veterinary professionals. 🐛🔬📚

On the occasion of World Migratory Bird Day 2025, we join the global campaign to raise awareness about migratory birds and the urgent need for their conservation.

This year’s theme, “Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Communities,” emphasizes the importance of designing urban areas that support both birds and people—promoting harmony between biodiversity and urban development.

Let’s create cities where both wildlife and communities can thrive together.
