Mango Seed Removed from Golden Retriever at Happy Pets Animal Clinic, Imadol

At Happy Pets Animal Clinic, Imadol, we recently treated a Golden Retriever that had swallowed a mango seed. The dog was brought in with symptoms of vomiting and loss of appetite.
After examination, we suspected a foreign body in the Golden Retriever’s stomach though the exact object was uncertain at that time. To confirm and treat the condition, we performed an exploratory laparotomy during which we discovered that the obstruction was caused by a mango seed.
Surgical removal was performed successfully and the patient is recovering well under post-operative care.
Foreign body ingestion (such as seeds, bones, or toys) is a common emergency in dogs, especially in curious breeds like Golden Retrievers.
