As we close out the old year and step into 2025, the TSU K9 Unit, along with our incredible partners, reflects on a busy and productive holiday season.
Over the festive period, our dedicated teams and their K9 partners were deployed for 4 weeks, working long hours and patrolling tirelessly across the Eastern suburbs of Windhoek. Their presence played a vital role in deterring criminal activity and keeping our communities safe.

🌞 Detection, Detection, Detection! 💪
We’re soaking up the sun this summer with our young K9s, and it’s all about detection work! 🐾 These pups are sharpening their skills, having fun, and loving every second of the training.
Stay tuned as we continue building their foundation and watch them grow into the detection superstars they’re destined to be!
We are excited to welcome Sipho Shokane to our team as our Senior K9 Trainer! 🐾
Sipho began his dog handling career in 2011, specializing in explosive detection, mine detection, and cargo screening at airports. Over the years, he expanded his skills, focusing primarily on detection dogs. As a qualified Facilitator and Assessor, Sipho is now furthering his studies in dog behavior and is on the path to becoming a full-time detection instructor.
Sipho’s international experience includes work in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Turkey as well Swaziland, working with Genesis as a Senior Facilitator (DH1-DH5), and collaborating with Bidvest Aviation, where he handled dogs specialized in endangered species detection—such as rhino horn, lion bones, dry abalone, pangolin scales, and narcotics.
We are thrilled to have Sipho’s vast knowledge and expertise on board and can’t wait to see the incredible impact he will have on our K9 training programs!

Meet Pointer & Sierra: English Pointer Sibling Duo Ready for New Homes
Pointer (male) and Sierra (female) are a bonded 15 month old brother-sister pair looking for their forever homes. These two English Pointers are fully vaccinated, intact, and up-to-date on their parasite prevention.
While they are great as companions, they shine brightest in working environments. With experience in man tracking, they would be ideal working dogs for a private reserve or farm, where their skills can truly excel.
They have been specifically imprinted on marijuana and already excel in pipe training. With continued work, they have the potential to be imprinted on other substances, and with further detection training, they could thrive as dual-purpose working K9s. These siblings are ready to take on the challenge.
Their background in man tracking and substance detection, combined with their high potential for further training, makes them a valuable asset for working environments.
If you’re looking for highly trained, intelligent dogs with real-world experience, Pointer and Sierra could be the perfect addition to your home or team.
They are available to be homed individually or as a team, depending on your needs.

At the TSU K9 Unit, we believe that the foundation of a successful working K9 is built through play and drive development. Our approach focuses on allowing puppies to be puppies, with early training emphasizing positive exposure to various environments. We maintain a structured routine that balances rest, play, and socialization, ensuring that every day is engaging and enjoyable. Ultimately, we aim to make the learning process fun, setting the stage for a confident and capable working dog.
