When you notice an approaching distraction, recalling your dog back to you before they become fixated helps reinforce responsiveness, maintain focus, and prevent unwanted behaviours from developing.

Dogs learn through association; every time you call your dog's name and they come to you, reward them generously so they learn that responding to you always leads to something positive and worthwhile.

Avoid using your dog's name every time you want to send them to the crate; otherwise, they may begin to associate their name with the end of fun and become less enthusiastic about responding when called.

A muzzle should not be something the dog merely tolerate. It should become a cue for something positive. By pairing muzzle conditioning with obedience training, the dog learns that putting on the muzzle predicts engagement, rewards, play, and clear communication with the handler.

Simple exercises such as heeling, sits, downs, recalls, and position changes while wearing the muzzle help the dog view it as just another piece of working equipment rather than a restraint.

When introduced gradually and reinforced consistently, many dogs will happily place their nose into the muzzle on their own, seeing it as the start of a training session rather than something to avoid.

A short look at the mechanics of a tuck sit and fold-back down the AKC Obedience style.

In this clip, the dog's front feet remain planted during the position changes. In AKC obedience, this level of precision is often expected and rewarded.

In sports such as IGP and PSA, clean position changes are desirable because they help prevent creeping and improve control, but they are generally not a requirement. The emphasis is more on a fast, correct response and maintaining position rather than perfectly stationary front feet.
