Society for the Protection & Care of Animals BSPCA is an NGO that focusses on many different areas within animal welfare in Malawi.

Some of these are:
1) Responsibly rehoming animals that are either surrendered or brought in as strays
2) Vaccinating and sterilizing stray dogs or those from low-income households
3) Offering veterinary care to animals in dire need
4) Working with the police to stop illegal animal vending
5) Lobbying for by-laws pertaining to animal welfare
6) Educating the general public about safe animal handli

🐶 Shelter Dog Monday 🐶
Say hello to Jojo, our brave little rescue pup! 💛

Just 8 weeks old, Jojo was found abandoned and terrified on the streets. When he first arrived, he was so frightened he wouldn’t let anyone near him. But with time, love, and gentle care, Jojo has started to come out of his shell and learn that people can be kind. 🐾

He’s still got a journey ahead of him, but he’s already showing us how strong and resilient he is. Jojo has now finished his vaccinations and is ready to find a calm, patient home where he can continue to grow in confidence and be showered with the love he’s always deserved. ❤️

She was found last year and, despite our efforts, no owner ever came forward. From day one, Duchess showed her sweet nature—friendly, affectionate, and always up for making new friends (both human and canine!).

This cheeky girl has tons of energy and a big personality. She thrives on playtime and cuddles, so she’d be a perfect match for an active owner who can keep her busy and loved. 🐕💨

🐶 Shelter Dog Monday: Meet Wh**ey! 🐾

Say hello to Wh**ey — a sweet and resilient pup with a heart full of love! 💛 Wh**ey came to us as a very young puppy with paralysis and general weakness. But with lots of care and determination, this little fighter made an incredible recovery!

Now about 6 months old, Wh**ey is thriving in the shelter and growing into the happiest boy. He absolutely loves people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He’d be over the moon to find a home with a furry friend to play with! 🐕💕

Wh**ey’s journey is nothing short of inspiring — now all he needs is a forever family to continue his story.

Shelter Cat Tuesday 🐱 Meet Rescue Sisters Kay & Jete! 🐾

These two beautiful girls were rescued separately, but they found each other in the shelter and formed an incredible bond over the past year. 💛

They spend their days sunbathing side by side and love nothing more than cuddling up with their favourite humans. They truly are inseparable.

They were all set to go to a loving home together, but sadly, that adoption fell through — through no fault of their own. 💔

Now, we’re back on the lookout for a family who can give both Kay and Jete the forever home they deserve, together. After everything they’ve been through, they truly deserve a lifetime of love, comfort, and companionship.

Carla came to us with a badly broken leg. Sadly, by the time she arrived, it was too late to save it, and we had to make the tough decision to amputate.

But don’t worry—Carla hasn’t let that slow her down one bit! Just a few weeks later, she’s fully recovered and zooming around like a pro, living her best three-legged life. 🐈‍⬛💨

She’s the sweetest girl with so much love to give. Carla adores people and would make the perfect snuggle companion.

Gus came to us as a tiny puppy after being rescued from the roadside following a car accident. 💔 Thanks to quick action, she survived — and now she’s grown into a sweet, playful pup just under a year old!

Having spent most of her life in the shelter, Gus is ready for her forever home. She’s incredibly friendly, sociable, and gets along well with most other dogs she knows. She absolutely loves people and would thrive in an active home — ideally with another dog to play with, or even better, adopted alongside another rescue! 🐕‍🦺🐾

Patients of the Week 🩺🐶
Meet these 7 adorable puppies who visited the clinic this week for full health checks, vaccinations, and parasite treatments!

While we’re an anti-breeding organisation dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned dogs and encouraging adoption, we also support responsible breeding practices - including ensuring puppies are vaccinated against deadly diseases like parvovirus, distemper, and rabies before they are sold.

These little ones were all incredibly brave and are now getting ready for their new homes! 💛

🐶 Shelter Dog Monday 🐶

You may remember the story of Max - the little pup who was left with a badly broken jaw for over a month. After undergoing surgery and receiving the care he needed, Max is now growing into a happy, loving boy. 💛

His jaw will never be perfectly aligned, but it doesn’t slow him down one bit — he eats well, plays happily, and gets along great with other dogs.

Max is now ready for his forever home. 🏡
